Symplectic and multi-symplectic methods for coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations with periodic solutions
Aydin, A.; Karasoezen, B. (Elsevier BV, 2007-10-01)
We consider for the integration of coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations with periodic plane wave solutions a splitting method from the class of symplectic integrators and the multi-symplectic six-point scheme which is equivalent to the Preissman scheme. The numerical experiments show that both methods preserve very well the mass, energy and momentum in long-time evolution. The local errors in the energy are computed according to the discretizations in time and space for both methods. Due to its local nat...
Symplectic and multisymplectic Lobatto methods for the "good" Boussinesq equation
AYDIN, AYHAN; Karasözen, Bülent (2008-08-01)
In this paper, we construct second order symplectic and multisymplectic integrators for the "good" Boussineq equation using the two-stage Lobatto IIIA-IIIB partitioned Runge-Kutta method, which yield an explicit scheme and is equivalent to the classical central difference approximation to the second order spatial derivative. Numerical dispersion properties and the stability of both integrators are investigated. Numerical results for different solitary wave solutions confirm the excellent long time behavior ...
Symplectic fillings of lens spaces as Lefschetz fibrations
Bhupal, Mohan Lal (European Mathematical Society Publishing House, 2016-01-01)
We construct a positive allowable Lefschetz fibration over the disk on any minimal (weak) symplectic filling of the canonical contact structure on a lens space. Using this construction we prove that any minimal symplectic filling of the canonical contact structure on a lens space is obtained by a sequence of rational blowdowns from the minimal resolution of the corresponding complex two-dimensional cyclic quotient singularity.
Parametric analysis of inelastic interaction in frame-wall structural systems
Seçkiner, Soner; Sarıtaş, Afşin; Department of Civil Engineering (2011)
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the inelastic action in the reinforced concrete frame-wall structures analytically and with that analysis to follow the plastic formation of the structure. For this purpose, six mid-rise reinforced concrete buildings with frame-wall are modeled and analyzed to understand the effect of the height and base shear force ratio of the wall on the nonlinear interaction between reinforced concrete wall and frame members under static lateral loads and ground motion excita...
Isospin invariance and the spin structure of the amplitude for the process H-3+He-3->d(2)H+He-4
Yalcin, C; Rekalo, MP; Koru, H (1996-06-01)
We analyzed the general form of all polarization effects in the H-3 + He-3 --> d(2)H + He-4 reaction. For this aim, we parametrized the spin structure of the full amplitude in terms of the transverse amplitudes which describe the different transitions between initial and final states, which in turn are differed by projections of nuclei spins along the normal to the reaction plane. The isospin invariance of the strong interaction generates definite symmetry properties of the transverse amplitudes relative to...
