TiO2 nanorods (NRs) were synthesized on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) pre-coated glass substrates using hydrothermal growth technique. Scanning electron microscopy studies have revealed the formation of vertically-aligned TiO2 NRs with length of similar to 2 mu m and diameter of 110128 nm, homogenously distributed over the substrate surface. 130 nm thick Au contacts using thermal evaporation were deposited on the n-type TiO2 NRs at room temperature for the fabrication of NR-based Schottky-type UV photodetectors. The fabricated Schottky devices functioned as highly sensitive UV photodetectors with a peak responsivity of 134.8 A/W (lambda = 350 nm) measured under 3 V reverse bias. Active carbon/graphene hydrogel nanocomposites as a symmetric device for supercapacitors

Activated carbons (ACs) are successfully synthesized from Elaeagnus grain by a simple chemical synthesis methodology and demonstrated as novel, suitable supercapacitor electrode materials for graphene hydrogel (GH)/AC nanocomposites. GH/AC nanocomposites are synthesized via hydrothermal process at temperature of 180 degrees C. The low-temperature thermal exfoliation approach is convenient for mass production of graphene hydrogel (GH) at low cost and it can be used as electrode material for energy storage ap...
Sol-Gel processing of organically modified ITO thin films and characterization of their optoelectronic and microstructural properties
Kesim, Mehmet Tümerkan; Durucan, Caner; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2012)
Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films were formed on glass substrates by sol-gel method. Coating sols were prepared using indium chloride tetrahydrate (InCl3•4H2O) and tin-chloride pentahydrate (SnCl4•5H2O) stabilized in organic solvents (acetylacetone and ethanol). First attempt was to synthesize ITO thin films using standard/unmodified coating sols. The effect of calcination treatment in air (300 – 600 °C) and number of coating layer(s) (1, 4, 7 or 10) on optoelectronic properties (electrical conductivity and...
Conducting FTO coatings produced using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis for heating applications
Süer, Başar; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2018)
In this thesis, fluorine doped tin dioxide (FTO) coatings were deposited on AISI 304 stainless steel (SS) substrates using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) technique. Four different candidate insulating intermediate layers of TiO2, MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 were selected and coated on AISI 304 using USP and investigated in order to overcome dielectric breakdown of FTO layer due to conductive nature of stainless steel substrate under the applied voltage. After the optimization of the process parameters for the dep...
In situ atom trapping of Bi on W-coated slotted quartz tube flame atomic absorption spectrometry and interference studies
KILINÇ, ERSİN; BAKIRDERE, Sezgin; AYDIN, FIRAT; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (2013-11-01)
Analytical performances of metal coated slotted quartz tube flame atomic absorption spectrometry (SQT-FAAS) and slotted quartz tube in situ atom trapping flame atomic absorption spectrometry (SQT-AT-FAAS) systems were evaluated for determination of Bi. Non-volatile elements such as Mo, Zr, W and Ta were tried as coating materials. It was observed that W-coated SQT gave the best sensitivity for the determination of Bi for SQT-FAAS and SQT-AT-FMS. The parameters for W-coated SQT-FAAS and W-coated SQT-AT-FAAS ...
Non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation of electromigration in aluminum-based metallic interconnects
Şen, Fatih Gürçaǧ; Aydınol, Mehmet Kadri (2006-12-01)
The effect of alloying elements in aluminum on diffusion behavior was investigated using non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) under the effect of electromigration wind force. The electromigration wind force was computed based on a theory using the pseudopotential formalism of the elements, where it depends on the type and distribution of the imperfections in the lattice. It was found that the electromigration force on the impurity depends on the scattering power of the atom, which is related to the che...
