We derive and study the equations of motion of the Born-Infeld extension of new massive gravity for globally and asymptotically (anti-) de Sitter spaces, and show that the assumptions of the null-energy condition and holography (that bounds the c-function) lead to two simple c-functions, one of which is equivalent to the c-function of Einstein's gravity. We also show that, at the fixed point, the c-function gives the central charge of the Virasoro algebra and the coefficient of the Weyl anomaly up to a constant.

B decays in an asymmetric left-right model
Frank, Mariana; Hayreter, Alper; Turan, İsmail (American Physical Society (APS), 2010-08-25)
Motivated by recently observed disagreements with the standard model predictions in B decays, we study b -> d, s transitions in an asymmetric class of SU(2)(L) x SU(2)(R) x U(1)(B-L) models, with a simple one-parameter structure of the right-handed mixing matrix for the quarks, which obeys the constraints from kaon physics. We use experimental constraints on the branching ratios of b -> s gamma, b -> ce (nu) over bar (e), and B-d,s(0) - (B) over barB(d,s)(0) mixing to restrict the parameters of the model: g...
B -> K*tau(+)tau(-) decay in the general two Higgs doublet model including the neutral Higgs boson effects
Iltan, EO; Turan, Gürsevil; Turan, İsmail (IOP Publishing, 2002-02-01)
We study the CP violating asymmetry, the forward-backward asymmetry of the lepton pair and the CP asymmetry in the forward-backward asymmetry for the exclusive decay B --> K*tau(+)tau(-) in the general two Higgs doublet model including the neutral Higgs boson effects. We analyse the dependences of these quantities on the model III parameters. We found that the physical parameters studied above are of the order of 1%, and neutral Higgs boson effects are detectable for large values of the coupling (ξ) over...
Born-Infeld-Horava gravity
Gullu, Ibrahim; Sisman, Tahsin Cagri; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2010-05-15)
We define various Born-Infeld gravity theories in 3 + 1 dimensions which reduce to Horava's model at the quadratic level in small curvature expansion. In their exact forms, our actions provide z -> infinity extensions of Horava's gravity, but when small curvature expansion is used, they reproduce finite z models, including some half-integer ones.
B-c and heavy meson spectroscopy in the local approximation of the Schrodinger equation with relativistic kinematics
Ikhdair, SM; Sever, Ramazan (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2005-07-10)
We present bound state masses of the self-conjugate and non-self-conjugate mesons in the context of the Schrodinger equation taking into account the relativistic kinematics and the quark spins. We apply the usual interaction by adding the spin dependent correction. The hyperfine splittings for the 2S charmonium and 1S bottomonium are calculated. The pseudoscalar and vector decay constants of the B-c meson and the unperturbed radial wave function at the origin are also calculated. We have obtained a local eq...
Finite mass gravitating Yang monopoles
CEBECİ, HAKAN; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Tekin, Bayram (American Physical Society (APS), 2008-12-01)
We show that gravity cures the infrared divergence of the Yang monopole when a proper definition of conserved quantities in curved backgrounds is used, i.e. the gravitating Yang monopole in cosmological Einstein theory has a finite mass in generic even dimensions (including time). In addition, we find exact Yang-monopole type solutions in the cosmological Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet-Yang-Mills theory and briefly discuss their properties.
