A study of steam-assisted gravity drainage performance in the presence of noncondensable gases
Canbolat, Serhat; Akın, Serhat; Kovscek, Anthony R. (null; 2002-12-01)
Traditionally, the addition of a non-condensable gas to steam is known to have a beneficial effect on heavy-oil production when conventional vertical wells are used. Little information and experimental evidence exists regarding the effect of the addition of such gases in the steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) process. The limited literature suggests that the addition of small amounts of such gases (e.g., carbon dioxide) may improve oil recovery. The gas accumulates at the top of the reservoir and provid...
A potential catalyst for continuous methane partial oxidation to methanol using N2O: Cu-SSZ-39
Memioglu, Ozgun; İpek Torun, Bahar (2021-02-01)
Continuous catalytic methanol production from methane is reported on Cu-SSZ-39 using N2O as an oxidant. Through optimization of CH4, N2O and H2O partial pressures, a methanol formation rate of 499 mu molCH3OH g-1 h-1 and a methanol selectivity of 34% is achieved.
Improved oil recovery application in limestone reservoirs using alkaline solutions
Bagci, S.; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Turksoy, U. (Informa UK Limited, 2007-09-01)
In this research, the effect of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSiO4) solutions for the improved oil recovery of Raman crude oil was investigated using a one-dimensional unconsolidated limestone reservoir model. The results of displacement tests showed that sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium silicate (NaSiO4) solutions were not effective on incremental oil recovery. It was also observed that injection flow rate of alkaline solution has minimum effect on Raman crude oil in scope of oil recover...
A facile method for the recovery of ionic liquid and lignin from biomass pretreatment
DIBBLE, DEAN; LI, CHENLIN; LAN, SUN; GEORGE, ANTHE; CHENG, AURELIA; Persil Çetinkol, Özgül; BENKE, PETER; HOLMES, BRADLEY; SINGH, SEEMA; SIMMONS, BLAKE (2011-01-01)
In the biochemical conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to biofuels, the process of pretreatment is currently one of the most difficult and expensive operations. The use of ionic liquids (ILs) in biomass pretreatment has received considerable attention recently because of their effectiveness at decreasing biomass recalcitrance to subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis. In addition, ILs have the potential for decreasing the need for corrosive or toxic chemicals and associated waste streams that can be generated by...
Parametric Study of Carbon Dioxide Sequestration in Deep Saline Aquifers
Basbug, B.; Gumrah, F. (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
CO2 sequestration in a deep saline aquifer was simulated using a compositional commercial simulator based on a single-well aquifer model, which was developed to analyze the injection and storage process of CO2 under supercritical and gaseous conditions for long periods of time. The influence of controlling parameters including vertical to horizontal permeability ratio, aquifer pressure, injection rate on the isothermal injection, and sequestration processes were investigated and the sensitivity analysis cor...
