Although clinoptilolite is the most abundant zeolite mineral in nature, its synthesis under laboratory conditions has been difficult. A partial crystallization field study was done for the synthesis of clinoptilolite based on a nominal batch composition of 2.1Na(2)O:Al2O3:10Si(2)O:110H(2)O to delineate the limits of composition and temperature within which sodium clinoptilolite can be produced as a single phase in high yields. Effects of temperature, SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio in the batch composition, and the use of different raw materials in batch preparation were studied. The need for the use of seed crystals for reproducible synthesis of clinoptilolite was established. (c) 2009 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

Crystallization field and rate study for the formation of single phase sodium-potassium and potassium clinoptilolite
Guvenir, O.; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Culfaz, A. (Wiley, 2011-04-01)
Reproducible synthesis of clinoptilolite as the single crystalline phase was achieved in the narrow crystallization field at or around the nominal batch composition of 2.1(Na2O+K2O):Al2O3:10SiO(2):110H(2)O at 140 degrees C. Clinoptilolites of high purity were crystallized in the pure sodium or mixed sodium-potassium cation systems. Partial replacement of hydroxyl anions with the salts of carbonates or chlorides also yielded clinoptilolite as the single crystalline phase although at lower crystallization rat...
Crystallization of silicalite-1 from clear synthesis solutions: Effect of template concentration on crystallization rate and crystal size
Soydas, B.; Çulfaz Emecen, Pınar Zeynep; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Culfaz, A. (Wiley, 2009-08-01)
Synthesis of silicalite-1 powders and membranes from initially clear solutions with different tetrapropylammonium hydroxide or bromide concentrations was studied. While tetrapropylammonium bromide acts only as template, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide provides both the template and hydroxyl ions to the synthesis medium. The effects of template and hydroxyl ion concentration on the product yield, crystallization rate and crystal size were investigated. Pure and highly crystalline silicalite-1 was obtained with...
Thermally stimulated current measurements in undoped Ga3InSe4 single crystals
IŞIK, MEHMET; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2011-06-01)
The trap levels in nominally undoped Ga3InSe4 crystals were investigated in the temperature range of 10-300 K using the thermally stimulated currents technique. The study of trap levels was accomplished by the measurements of current flowing along the c-axis of the crystal. During the experiments we utilized a constant heating rate of 0.8 K/s. Experimental evidence is found for one hole trapping center in the crystal with activation energy of 62 meV. The analysis of the experimental TSC curve gave reasonabl...
Synthesis, crystal structure and characterization of new transition metal compounds of bromophenols: Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato) di(N-methylimidazole)M(II) (M=Co, Cu)
Camurlu, P; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Tatar, L; Kisakurek, D; Ulku, D (Wiley, 2005-03-01)
Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl imidazole)M(II), where M stands for cobalt and copper metals, was synthesized via reaction of the corresponding metal sulphate and 2,4,6-tribromophenolate in aqueous media in the presence of N-methyl imidazole and sodium hydroxide. Although various crystallization procedures were applied only cobalt complex was obtained as single crystals. The Co(II) ion has a distorted octahedral enviroment involving two O atoms and two N atoms of the Bis(2,4,6-tribromopbenolato)di(N...
Composition dependency of lattice anisotropy of TlBX2-type chain mixed crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı; Tas, M (Wiley, 2000-01-01)
Variation of the lattice parameters of TlTl1-xInxSe2 chain mixed crystals with composition have been studied by X-ray diffraction technique. The lattice anisotropy (c/a) of the TlBX2-type mixed crystals changes linearly with substitution of the atoms located bath at the center and at the vertices of the BX4 tetrahedra. A brief survey of the important features of the effect of isomorphic atom substitution on the lattice anisotropy of TlBX2-type mixed crystals with chain structure has been presented.
