Synthesis of silicalite-1 powders and membranes from initially clear solutions with different tetrapropylammonium hydroxide or bromide concentrations was studied. While tetrapropylammonium bromide acts only as template, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide provides both the template and hydroxyl ions to the synthesis medium. The effects of template and hydroxyl ion concentration on the product yield, crystallization rate and crystal size were investigated. Pure and highly crystalline silicalite-1 was obtained with all compositions. The nucleation time decreases from 100 h to 20 h and the crystal size decreases from 3.5 mu m to 0.35 mu m as the template amount x is increased from 5 to 30 moles at a batch composition of 80SiO(2 center dot)xTPAOH center dot 1500H(2)O at 95 degrees C. Yield of silicalite-1 passes through a maximum at intermediate TPA concentration. (C) 2009 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

Conducting polymers of decanedioic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester
Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2004-05-15)
A dipyrrolyl monomer was synthesized via the reaction between 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenol and decanedioyl dichloride. The electrochemical behavior of this monomer was studied. Polymerization of decanedioic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yi-phenyl) ester (DAPE) was achieved by chemical and constant current electrolyses methods. Copolymerization of DAPE with thiophene was performed by constant potential electrolysis in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB), dichloromethane-TBAFB, solvent-electrolyte couple...
Crystallization field and rate study for the formation of single phase sodium-potassium and potassium clinoptilolite
Guvenir, O.; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Culfaz, A. (Wiley, 2011-04-01)
Reproducible synthesis of clinoptilolite as the single crystalline phase was achieved in the narrow crystallization field at or around the nominal batch composition of 2.1(Na2O+K2O):Al2O3:10SiO(2):110H(2)O at 140 degrees C. Clinoptilolites of high purity were crystallized in the pure sodium or mixed sodium-potassium cation systems. Partial replacement of hydroxyl anions with the salts of carbonates or chlorides also yielded clinoptilolite as the single crystalline phase although at lower crystallization rat...
Conducting polymers of octanoic acid 2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl ester and their electrochromic properties
CAMURLU, P; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2005-08-15)
Octanoic acid 2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl ester was synthesized via the reaction of 3-thiophene ethanol with octanoyl chloride. The resulting monomer was electrochemically homopolymerized in the presence of tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate as the supporting electrolyte, in the acetonitrile/borontrifluoride ethyl ether solvent system. The resulting polymer was characterized using various experimental techniques. Spectroelectrochemistry analysis of the homopolymer reflects electronic transitions at 434, approxi...
Synthesis, crystal structure and characterization of new transition metal compounds of bromophenols: Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato) di(N-methylimidazole)M(II) (M=Co, Cu)
Camurlu, P; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Tatar, L; Kisakurek, D; Ulku, D (Wiley, 2005-03-01)
Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl imidazole)M(II), where M stands for cobalt and copper metals, was synthesized via reaction of the corresponding metal sulphate and 2,4,6-tribromophenolate in aqueous media in the presence of N-methyl imidazole and sodium hydroxide. Although various crystallization procedures were applied only cobalt complex was obtained as single crystals. The Co(II) ion has a distorted octahedral enviroment involving two O atoms and two N atoms of the Bis(2,4,6-tribromopbenolato)di(N...
Synthesis and characterization of a new soluble conducting polymer and its electrochromic device
Varis, Serhat; Ak, Metin; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Akhmedov, Idris Mecidoglu; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-12-01)
A mixture of isomers 2,5-di(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole, 2-(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-5-(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole and 2,5-di(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole (Me-SNS(NO2)) were synthesized. Resulting monomers were polymerized chemically, producing soluble polymers in common organic solvents. The average molecular weight has been determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) as Mn = 5.6 x 10(3) for the chemically synthesized polymer. T...
