A new conducting polymer was synthesized by electrochemical polymerization of 4-(2,5-di-2-thiophen-2-yl-pyrrol-1-yl)-2-phthalonitrile (SNS-PN). Electrochemical polymerization of SNS-PN was performed in acetonitrile/0.2M LiClO4 solvent/electrolyte couple. Characterizations of the resulting polymer P(SNS-PN) were carried out by cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic techniques. Spectroelectrochemical studies revealed that P(SNS-PN) has an electronic band gap of 2.45 eV and exhibits electrochromic behavior. The switching ability of polymer was also monitored and the percentage transmittance change (Delta T%) was found as 24%. It is also found that P(SNS-PN) is fluorescent and its fluorescence intensity enhances in the presence of cations. (C) 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 114: 2685-2690, 2009

Synthesis and characterization of poly(thiophen-3-yl acetic acid 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenyl ester-co-N-methylpyrrole) and its application in an electrochromic device
Bingol, B; Camurlu, P; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2006-05-05)
Copolymer of thiophen-3-yl acetic acid 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenyl ester (TAPE) with N-methylpyrrole (NMPy) was synthesized by potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetotiitrile-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate solvent-electrolyte couple. The chemical structures were confirmed via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and UV-vis spectroscopy. Electrochromic and spectroelectrochemical properties of poly(TAPE-co-NMPy) [P(TAPE-co-NMPy)] were investigated. Results sho...
Synthesis and characterization of multi-hollow opaque polymer pigments
Asmaoglu, Serdar; Gündüz, Güngör; MAVİŞ, BORA; Colak, Uner (Wiley, 2016-08-05)
A new generation multihollow opaque polymer pigment was synthesized by suspension polymerization of water-in-oil-in-water emulsion method, where methyl methacrylate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate monomer mixture was used as oil phase. The effects of surfactant and cosurfactant composition in terms of hydrophilic/lipophilic balance on the stability of the water-in-oil emulsion and the size of water droplets were studied. Low droplet sizes and the optimum stability were obtained with Span 80&Tween 80 surf...
Preparation and Comparison of Two Electrodes for Supercapacitors: Pani/CNT/Ni and Pani/Alizarin-Treated Nickel
Koysuren, Ozcan; Du, Chunsheng; Pan, Ning; Bayram, Göknur (Wiley, 2009-07-15)
Polyaniline in emeraldine form was synthesized in the presence of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and the electrochemical capacitance performance of thus formed composite as electrode material has been Studied. The polyaniline/carbon nanotubes (Pani/CNT) composite is found to result in a higher specific capacitance than that of either composite constituent, attributable to the double-layer capacitance behavior of the nanotubes in the Pani/CNT system. However, once assembled into a two-electrode cell, l...
Synthesis, Characterization and Optoelectrochemical Properties of Poly(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-(thiophen-3-yl)phenyl)-1H-pyrrole-co-EDOT)
Turac, Ersen; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yuruk, Huseyin (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 2,5-di( thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-(thiophen-3-yl) phenyl)-1H-pyrrole (TTPP). The structure of the monomer was evaluated by H-1-NMR and FT-IR. The polymer (P(TTPP)) and its co-polymer with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (P(TTPP-co-EDOT)) were synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization. The resulting polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), FT-IR, SEM and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and conductivity ...
Preparation and Characterization of Low Density Polyethylene/Ethylene Methyl Acrylate Glycidyl Methacrylate/Organoclay Nanocomposites
Coskunses, Fatma Isik; Yılmazer, Ülkü (Wiley, 2011-06-05)
The effects of organoclay type, compatibilizer, and the addition order of components during melt-blending process on the morphology and thermal, mechanical, and flow properties of ternary nanocomposites based on low-density polyethylene (LDPE) were investigated. As a compatibilizer, ethylene/methyl acrylate/glycidyl methacrylate (E-MA-GMA), as organoclays Cloisites (R) 15A, 25A, and 30B were used. All samples were prepared by a corotating twin screw extruder, followed by injection molding. The highest incre...
