New pi-conjugated polymers containing dithieno(3,2-b: 2',3'-d) pyrrole (DTP) were successfully synthesized via electropolymerization. The effect of structural differences on the electrochemical and optoelectronic properties of the 4-[4H-dithieno(3,2-b: 2',3'-d) pyrrol-4-yl] aniline (DTP-aryl-NH2), 10-[4H-dithiyeno(3,2-b: 2',3'-d) pirol-4-il] dekan-1-amine (DTP-alkyl-NH2), and 1,10-bis[4H-dithieno(3,2-b:2',3'-d) pyrrol-4-yl] decane (DTP-alkyl-DTP) were investigated. The corresponding polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry, NMR (H-1-NMR and C-13-NMR), and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Changes in the electronic nature of the functional groups led to variations in the electrochemical properties of the pi-conjugated systems. The electroactive polymer films revealed redox couples and exhibited electrochromic behavior. The replacement of the DTP-alkyl-DTP unit with DTP-aryl-NH2 and DTP-alkyl-NH2 resulted in a lower oxidation potential. Both the poly(10-(4H-Dithiyeno[3,2-b: 2',3'-d] pirol-4-il) dekan-1-amin) (poly( DTP-alkyl-NH2)) and poly(1,10-bis(4H-dithieno[3,2-b: 2',3'-d] pyrrol-4-yl) decane) (poly(DTP-alkyl-DTP)) films showed multicolor electrochromism and also fast switching times (<1 s) in the visible and near infrared regions. Synthesis of N-polyethereal polypyrroles and their application for the preconcentration of rare earth ions
Koksel, Bahar; CİHANER, ATİLLA; Kaya, Murat; Volkan, Mürvet; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Wiley, 2008-05-15)
Conducting polymers containing polyether pseudocages (PI, PII, PIII) have been synthesized via chemical oxidation of 1,5-bis(1,1-pyrrole)-3-oxabutane (MI), 1,8-bis(I,I-pyrrole)-3,6-dioxahexane (MII), and 1,11-bis(1,1-pyrrole)-3,6,9-trioxaundecane (MIII) using anhydrous FeCl3 in CHCl3. Because as obtained polymer resins did not give any response toward any cations, they were reduced (undoped) using chemical reducing agents. Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide was found to be more effective in undoping to obtain mor...
Conducting Polymer Composites of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube Filled Doped Polyaniline
Yilmaz, Faris; Kucukyavuz, Zuhal (Wiley, 2009-01-15)
A multiwalled carbon nanotube (c-MWNT)/polyaniline (PANI) composite was synthesized by an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization process. With the carbon nanotube loading increased from 0 to 30 wt %,, the conductivity also increased and became weakly temperature-dependent. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy studies showed that the synthesis by an in situ process led to effective site-selective interactions between the quinoid ring of the PANI and the multiwalled nanotubes, facilitating charge-transf...
Synthesis, Characterization and Optoelectrochemical Properties of Poly(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-(thiophen-3-yl)phenyl)-1H-pyrrole-co-EDOT)
Turac, Ersen; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yuruk, Huseyin (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 2,5-di( thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-(thiophen-3-yl) phenyl)-1H-pyrrole (TTPP). The structure of the monomer was evaluated by H-1-NMR and FT-IR. The polymer (P(TTPP)) and its co-polymer with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (P(TTPP-co-EDOT)) were synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization. The resulting polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), FT-IR, SEM and UV-Vis spectroscopy, and conductivity ...
Conduction mechanism in H-type polysiloxane-polypyrrole block copolymers
BOZKURT, AYHAN; Parlak, Mehmet; Ercelebi, C; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Wiley, 2002-07-05)
Conducting polymers of polysiloxane-polypyrrole were Synthesized by electropolymerization of the pyrrole monomer through pyrrole moieties in N-pyrrole-terminated polysiloxanes. Sodium paratoluene sulfonate was used as the electrolyte. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to determine the surface morphology of the films. The room-temperature conductivity values of the films were found to be in the range of 1.9-4.4 x 10(-4) (Omega cm)(-1), depending on the supporting electrolyte concentration. The temp...
Synthesis of New Thienylene Pyrrole Monomers and Their Electropolymerizations
Eken, Serap; Carbas, Buket Bezgin; Akdağ, Akın; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (The Electrochemical Society, 2014-01-01)
In this study, four new 2,5-dithienylpyrroles (SNS) 1-(3-fluoro-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-FPTP), 1-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-ClPTP), 1-(3-bromo-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (m-BrPTP) and 1-(4-bromo-phenyl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole (p-BrPTP) containing meta and para substituted benzene ring at the nitrogen atom were synthesized via Paal-Knorr condensation of 1,4-di(2-thienyl)-1,4-butanedione with corresponding halo-substituted anilines. The mon...
