Characterization, correlation and kinetics of dolomite samples as outlined by thermal methods

2008-02-01
In this study, the decomposition behavior of four dolomite samples of different origin was studied by X-ray diffractometer and simultaneous TG-DTA experiments. Three different decomposition regions were determined known as dehydration of inter-particle water, formation of MgO and calcite and decomposition of calcite. Kinetic analysis of these decomposition regions was analyzed and the related activation energies are determined. It was observed that the activation energies were in the range of 48-137 kJ mol(-1).

Thermal characterization of dolomites
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2001-01-01)
The decomposition behaviour of dolomite samples has been carried out by simultaneous DTA-TG experiments. Dolomite samples could be classified broadly into two categories as regular and iron-bearing dolomites based on DTA decomposition temperatures. The mass% FeO of all the dolomite samples was identified by DTA and the results are confirmed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer experiments.
Preparation and characterization of poly(lactic acid) composites involving aromatic diboronic acid and organically modified montmorillonite
Akar, Alinda Oyku; Hacaloğlu, Jale (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-01-01)
In this study, composites of polylactide, PLA, involving 1, 2 and 3 mass% 1,4-benzene diboronic acid, BDBA, in the absence and presence of 3 mass% organically modified montmorillonite, Cloisite 30B, C30B, were prepared and characterized. Homogenous dispersion for the composites involving only 1 mass% BDBA and agglomeration for the ones with higher BDBA content were observed. For the composites involving nanoclay, mainly intercalated dispersion was detected. Both TGA and DP-MS results indicated a decrease in...
Optimization of supercritical CO2 extraction of Thymbra spicata oil
Sonsuzer, S; Şahin, Serpil; Yılmaz, Levent (Elsevier BV, 2004-07-01)
The supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of aroma compounds from Thymbra spicata was studied. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the parameters of the supercritical fluid extraction. Independent variables were temperature (40, 50 and 60 degreesC), pressure (80, 100 and 120 bar) and time (30, 60 and 90 min). Dependent variables were yield, monoterpene, sesquiterpene and oxygenated monoterpene contents.
Investigation of bioprocess parameters for glucose isomerase production by Bacillus thermoantarcticus
Haykır, Işık; Çalık, Pınar; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
In this study, the effects of bioprocess parameters on glucose isomerase roduction by Bacillus thermoantarcticus (DSMZ 9572) were investigated. For his purpose, firstly, in laboratory scale shake-bioreactors, a defined medium was designed in terms of its carbon and nitrogen sources, to achieve the highest glucose isomerase activity. Optimum concentrations of medium components were determined by a statistical approach, namely Response Surface Methodology (RSM). RSM defined the relationship between the respon...
Investigation of the effect of substituent on the growth of polymer for 3-substituted polythiophenes via pyrolysis mass spectrometry
Aslan, Evren; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2005-10-15)
In this study, direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry analyses of electrochemically polymerized poly(decanedioic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester) and poly(terepthalic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester) were per-formed to investigate structural and thermal characteristics. It was found that when the ester linkages contain hydrocarbon chains, the growth of polymer occurred through both 2- and 5-positions. On the other hand, when the ester linkages contain more rigid groups such as phenyl, steric hindran...
