This paper presents a rational design approach for preshessed-concrete-girder integral bridges. An analysis procedure and simplified analytical models are proposed for the design of integral bridges. The proposed design methodology is developed considering the actual behavior of integral bridges and load distribution among their various components. The methodology recommends the analysis of integral bridges for each construction stage. The earth pressure forces acting on integral bridge abutments are formulated in correlation with the effects of temperature variation. Some important design considerations for various integral bridge components are-also highlighted. The benefits of using the proposed analysis method for the design of integral bridges are discussed. It was concluded that it may be possible to obtain more sound and economical designs for integral bridges using the proposed design method,

Simplified model for computer-aided analysis of integral bridges
Dicleli, Murat (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2000-08-01)
This paper presents a computer-aided approach for the design of integral-abutment bridges. An analysis procedure and a simplified structure model are proposed for the design of integral-abutment bridges considering their actual behavior and load distribution among their various components. A computer program, for the analysis of integral-abutment bridges, has been developed using the proposed analysis procedure and structure model. The program is capable of analyzing an integral-abutment bridge for each con...
A parametric modeling study on distributed MEMS transmission lines
Unlu, M; Topalli, K; Demir, S; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Koc, S; Akın, Tayfun (2004-10-14)
This paper presents a parametric study of a new model for the distributed MEMS transmission line (DMTL) structures. In this new model, the MEMS bridges which are used as the loading elements of the DMTL structures are represented as low-impedance transmission lines, rather than a lumped CLR circuit. The model also includes LC networks at the transition points from the MEMS bridges to the unloaded parts of the DMTL which are simply high-impedance transmission lines. These LC networks are employed to model th...
An Efficient Semianalytical Method for Hypersingularity Treatment Over Curved Patches
Selcuk, G.; Koç, Seyit Sencer (2017-05-01)
In this communication, we propose an efficient method to evaluate hypersingular integrals defined on curved surfaces. First an exact expression for hypersingular kernel is derived by projecting the integral on curvilinear element on a flat surface. Next singularity subtraction employed, where the singular core is hypersingular and the remaining part is weakly singular. The singular core is evaluated analytically using finite part interpretation and the remaining weakly singular part is evaluated numerically...
An Efficient Parallel Solution Framework for the Linear Solution of Large Systems on PC Clusters
Kurç, Özgür (Tsinghua University Press, 2008-10-01)
In this paper, a parallel solution framework for the linear static analysis of large structures on PC clusters is presented. The framework consists of two main steps: data preparation and parallel solution. The parallel solution is performed by a substructure based method with direct solvers. The aim of the data preparation step is to create the best possible substructures so that the parallel solution time is minimized. An actual structural model was solved utilizing both homogeneous and heterogeneous PC c...
A Trie-structured Bayesian Model for Unsupervised Morphological Segmentation
Kurfalı, Murathan; Ustun, Ahmet; CAN BUĞLALILAR, BURCU (2017-04-23)
In this paper, we introduce a trie-structured Bayesian model for unsupervised morphological segmentation. We adopt prior information from different sources in the model. We use neural word embeddings to discover words that are morphologically derived from each other and thereby that are semantically similar. We use letter successor variety counts obtained from tries that are built by neural word embeddings. Our results show that using different information sources such as neural word embeddings and letter s...
