For making trilayer superconducting devices based on YBa2Cu3O7-delta (YBCO) thin film processing, we developed a new technique by employing Ge ion implantation. A YBCO thin film of 150 nm thickness having high c-axis orientation and a transition temperature, T, of 90 K was implanted with 80 keV, 1 x 10(16) Ge ions cm(-2) at room temperature. By the result of TRIM calculation, Ge ions were found to penetrate into the YBCO thin film approximately 60 nm below the surface of the film, thus leaving the lower part of the film as a superconductor. Upon implantation with Ge ions, the implanted upper part of the sample lost its electrical conductivity and diamagnetism while its original crystalline structure was preserved. The implanted ions we found did not alter the overall crystal structure of the YBCO thin film; this allowed us to grow an epitaxial superconducting upper layer of YBCO on top of the implanted area, leaving no need to use any buffer layer. The superconducting properties of the upper layer were similar to those of the pure YBCO base layer with an increased room temperature resistivity and a lowered T-c (88 K). This process provides an effective method for fabrication of a trilayer FITS device structure.

This work investigates the effect of RF power density (100-444 mW/cm(2)) on the structural, optical and electrical properties of the hydrogenated nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) thin films grown by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technique. Moreover, RF power effect on the large area uniformity was analyzed by comparing the properties of the films deposited at the center and near the edge of the PECVD electrode. Film characterization was performed by Fourier transform infrared and UV-vis...

A microbial biosensor based on Gluconobacter oxydans cells immobilized on the conducting polymer of 4-(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)benzenamine (SNS-NH2) coated onto the Surface of graphite electrode was constructed. The proposed biosensor was characterized using glucose as the Substrate. The linear relation was observed in the range of 0.1-2.5 mM and defined by the equation y = 0.415x + 0.377 (R-2 = 0.986). Analytical characterization, effects of electropolymerization time, pH, cell amount and the ...
On the application of hole-selective MoOx as full-area rear contact for industrial scale p-type c-Si solar cells

We present the feasibility of integrating substoichiometric molybdenum oxide (MoOx) as hole-selective rear contact into the production sequence of industrial scale p-type crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells. Thin films of MoOx are deposited directly on p-type c-Si by thermal evaporation at room temperature. It is found that Ag/MoOx/p-type c-Si rear contact structure exhibits low contact resistivity and modest surface recombination current density. The attained peak efficiency (eta) of the fabricated sola...

Ge nanocrystals formed in a SiO2 matrix by ion implantation were studied by Raman spectroscopy. It is shown that Raman analysis based on the phonon confinement model yields a successful explanation of the peculiar characteristics resulting from the nanocrystals. A broadening and a shift in the Raman peak are expected to result from the reduced size of the crystals. Asymmetry in the peak is attributed to the variations in the size of the nanocrystals. These effects were observed experimentally for the Ge nan...
Investigation of optical parameters of Ag-In-Se thin films deposited by e-beam technique
ÇOLAKOĞLU, TAHİR; Parlak, Mehmet; ÖZDER, SERHAT (Elsevier BV, 2008-07-15)
The optical properties of the Ag-In-Se (AlS) thin films deposited by e-beam technique were investigated by means of the optical transmittance measurements. The optical absorption coefficients of the films were found to vary from 10(3) to 10(5) cm(-1) over the wavelength range of 300-1100 nm. The real and imaginary parts of the refractive index and dielectric constant for the as-grown and annealed films in between 100 and 400 degrees C were evaluated by means of both envelope method (EM) and continuous wavel...
