The structure of the layered Li(NixMnyCo1-x-y)O-2 in different amounts of x and y ranging between 0.2 and 0.6, have been synthesized and investigated by powder X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy techniques. In the current work spray pyrolysis was used to obtain spherical fine-sized morphology followed by heat treatment to obtain better electrochemical activity. The precursor powders were prepared using aqueous solution via spray pyrolysis. Synthesized samples were then heat treated at 850 degrees C. X-Ray Diffraction patterns of synthesized cathode materials showed well defined splitting of [006]/[102] and [108]/[110] diffraction peaks indicating layered structure and good hexagonal ordering. In this study, Li(Ni1/3Mn1/3Co1/3)O-2 (111), Li(Ni0.2Mn0.2Co0.6)O-2 (226), Li(Ni0.6Mn0.2Co0.2)O-2 (622) and Li(Ni0.2Mn0.6Co0.2)O-2 (262) were synthesized. The morphology of cathode materials was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and average crystallite size was measured to be between 0.2 mu m and 0.6 mu m. Moreover, particle sizes were verified by particle size measurement and transmission electron microscopy techniques. The electrochemical cells were cycled at 0.1C and 0.3C rate (1C = 170 mAhg(-1)) and it was found that fast charging and discharging behavior were not sufficient. However, capacity retention after 32 cycles were determined to be 85.3% and 90%, for (111) and (262) samples, respectively. (C) 2016 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Investigation of structural, electronic and lattice dynamical properties of XNiH3 (X = Li, Na and K) perovskite type hydrides and their hydrogen storage applications
Gencer, Ayşenur; Surucu, Gokhan (Elsevier BV, 2019-06-07)
XNiH3 (X = Li, Na, and K) perovskite type hydrides have been studied by using Density Functional Theory (DFT) and these materials are found to be stable and synthesizable. The X-ray diffraction patterns have been obtained and they indicate that all materials have the polycrystalline structure. The electronic properties have been investigated and it has been found that these structures show metallic character. The Bader partial charge analysis has also been performed. In addition, the elastic constants have ...
Fundamentals of hydrogen storage processes over Ru/SiO2 and Ru/Vulcan
ASLAN, MUSTAFA YASİN; Üner, Deniz (Elsevier BV, 2019-07-12)
Hydrogen adsorption and desorption over Ru/SiO2 and Ru/Vulcan are investigated in terms of hydrogen storage and release characteristics by both dynamic and static experiments. Ru particle dispersions as a function of metal loading were determined by HR-TEM and volumetric chemisorption experiments. Vulcan was more accommodating for spillover hydrogen than SiO2. High Ru dispersions, i.e., small particle sizes, favored the amount of hydrogen spillover to Vulcan, as revealed by temperature programmed desorption...
Development of non-noble Co–N–C electrocatalyst for high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Eren, Enis Oğuzhan; Özkan, Necati; Devrim, Yılser (Elsevier BV, 2020-11-27)
© 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLCThe development of a non-noble Co–N/MWCNT (MWCNT = multi-walled carbon nanotubes) electrocatalyst is achieved through the high-temperature pyrolysis method and successfully characterized by five-step physico-chemical analysis. By utilizing high-resolution analytical surface characterization methods, the chemical states of elements are determined, and the presence of Co-Nx sites is confirmed. ORR activity of a Co–N/MWCNT is found to be auspicious. The maximum number of ...
Analytical and Numerical Modeling of CO2 Sequestration in Deep Saline Aquifers
Ozgur, E.; Gumrah, F. (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
The analytical and numerical modeling of CO2 sequestration in deep saline aquifers having different rock and fluid properties was studied under diffusion and convection mechanisms. In a diffusion dominated system, an aquifer with 100 m thickness was saturated with CO2 after 10,000,000 years. It was much earlier in a convective dominant system. In the diffusion process, the dissolution of CO2 in aquifer increased with porosity increase; however, in a convection dominant process dissolution of CO2 in aquifer ...
Photogalvanic effect in aqueous Methylene blue nickel mesh systems: Conversion of light into electricity
Bayer, IS; Eroğlu, İnci; Turker, L (Wiley, 2001-03-10)
The photogalvanic effect in electrochemical cells, employing aqueous Methylene blue and Fe(II)/Fe(III) couple electrolyte and nickel-mesh electrodes, were experimentally investigated. Five different standard H-cell configurations were set-up by modifying the electrolyte. Long-term open-circuit Voltage measurements were conducted in order to test the stability of the cells. Light on-off reproducibility experiments were also carried out during lengthy cell operations. By comparing experimental quantum yield w...
