A new method for the direct conversion of oximes into aldehydes and ketones by treatment with manganese triacetate is described. Manganese triacetate can be used for an effective and mild oxidizing agent for the regeneration of carbonyl compounds from oximes in good yield. Many functional groups are tolerated under the reaction conditions.

Manganese (III) acetate mediated regeneration of carbonyl compounds from oximes
Altınel, Ertan; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Department of Chemistry (2006)
A facile method for the direct conversion of oximes into carbonyl compounds by treatment with manganese triacetate is described. Manganese triacetate can be used for an effective and mild oxidizing agent for the regeneration of carbonyl compounds in good yield. Many functional groups are tolerated under reaction conditions.
Manganese(III) acetate oxidation of some ketones in the presence of 3-chloropropionic acid and theoretical investigation of the products
Akdağ, Akın; Turker, L (2001-08-01)
Manganese(III) acetate oxidation of some ketones in the presence of 3-chloropropionic acid was carried out. The products were characterized. The experimental results were compared with the theoretical ones which was based on AM1 (UHF) type semi-empirical calculations. The theoretical results disfavor any mechanism solely based on radical stability involving radicals originating from the reactants.
Manganese(III) acetate-mediated oxidative coupling of phenylhydrazines with benzene: a novel method for biaryl coupling
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Reis, O; Ozgul-Karaaslan, E (2001-01-01)
The reaction of phenylhydrazines with benzene in the presence of manganese(III) acetate affords biaryls in good yields. The same reaction was carried out with similar oxidants, such as Co-III, Ce-IV and Pb-IV; among these oxidants Mn-III acetate shows higher efficiency and selectivity.
Dimethyl ether from syngas and effect of CO2 sorption on product distribution over a new bifunctional catalyst pair containing STA@SBA-15
ÇELİK ÖZCAN, MERVE; PEKMEZCİ KARAMAN, BİRCE; OKTAR, NURAY; Doğu, Timur (2022-12-01)
Direct synthesis of dimethyl ether (DME) from syngas was investigated in the presence of a bifunctional catalyst pair containing silicotungstic acid (STA) incorporated SBA-15 (5, 10, 25% by wt. STA) for the in-situ dehydration of synthesized methanol. The methanol synthesis component of this catalyst mixture is a Cu/ZnO-based commercial (HF) catalytic material. The new STA@SBA-15 type solid acid catalysts synthesized in this study indicated ordered mesoporous structures with surface area values in the range...
Manganese(III) acetate based tandem oxidation of various α and β-alkoxy α,β-unsaturated ketones
Tanyeli, Cihangir; Sezen, Bengü (Elsevier BV, 2002-12-09)
We described the unusual results of manganese(III) acetate based tandem oxidation of various alpha and beta-alkoxy alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones to afford the corresponding alpha'-acetoxy-alpha'-phenyl substituted oxidation products in good yields. The tandem oxidation to monoacetoxylation ratio can be tuned by the amount of manganese(III) acetate.
