A novel ratiometric colorimetric and fluorescent dual probe based on Eriochrome Black T (EBT) Eu3+ complex was designed to detect dipicolinic acid (DPA), a major constituent of bacterial spores, with high sensitivity and selectivity. UV vis titration experiments demonstrated that EBT and Eu3+ ions formed a 1:1 coordination pair in water. In the presence of Eu3+ ions, the blue solution of EBT changed to magenta, however, upon the addition of DPA, the magenta color changed to blue immediately and characteristic fluorescence emission from DPA-Eu3+ complex was observed. In addition, the sensitivity of the system was further evaluated on Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores and as low as 2.5 X 10(5) spores were detected.

Immobilization studies utilizing solid supports for the determination of fructose by dansylaminophenyl boronic acid (DAPB acid) and chromate by diphenylcarbazide (DPC)
Bulut, Mukadder; Volkan, Mürvet; Department of Chemistry (2006)
Immobilization of fluorescent chemosensors and chromogenic reagents on solid supports for developing optical sensors result in improved analytical performance characteristics such as continuous read-out, increased sensitivity, lower reagent consumption and possibility of using the sensor in solvents where the free molecule displays low solubility. The aim of this study is to immobilize dansylaminophenyl boronic acid (DAPB acid) and diphenylcarbazide (DPC) into various solid supports for the determination of...
Polarographic determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) with selective removal of Se(IV) using ionic poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-co-allylthiourea)
Inam, R; Caykara, T; Özcan Kabasakal, Süreyya; Yagmur, M (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2005-12-01)
Hydrogels based on N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMAAm), allylthiourea (ATU), and maleic acid (MA) were synthesized by free-radical cross-linking copolymerization in water with N,N-methylene-bis(acrylamide) (BAAm) as the cross-linker, ammonium persulfate (APS) as the initiator, and N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-enediamine (TEMED) as the activator. Since Se(IV) is the most serious interfering element in the electroanalytical (polarographic or voltammetric) determination of lead and cadmium, a new method for their correct ...
MERCURY SPECIATION BY ELECTROCHEMICAL SEPARATION AND COLD-VAPOR ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY
ERGUCYENER, C; AYGUN, S; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; TEMIZER, A (1988-01-01)
Mercury speciation in aqueous solutions containing inorganic mercury and methylmercury has been demonstrated using electrochemical separation prior to determination by cold-vapour atomic absorption spectrometry. Approximately 95% of the inorganic mercury was electro-deposited on a Pt electrode at –0.1 V, whereas for methylmercury –0.2 V or even more negative potentials were required. Organic mercury was determined by NaBH4 reduction after electrochemical separation. Inorganic mercury was determined in the o...
Silver nanoparticles-tragacanth gel as a green membrane for effective extraction and determination of capecitabine
Hajizadeh, Salahaddin; Farhadi, Khalil; Molaei, Rahim; Forough, Mehrdad (Wiley, 2020-07-01)
A novel eco-friendly and effective electromembrane extraction method combining high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection was developed for the enrichment and determination of capecitabine. Tragacanth-silver nanoparticles conjugated gel was prepared by dissolving the tragacanth powder in synthesized silver nanoparticles solution and was used as a green membrane in electromembrane extraction. The porosity and presence of silver nanoparticles in the gel were characterized by field emission scann...
Electrochemical and optical properties of novel terthienyl based azobenzene, coumarine and fluorescein containing polymers: Multicolored electrochromic polymers
Yigit, Deniz; Udum, Yasemin Arslan; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2014-01-01)
Three electroactive terthienyl based monomers, namely 1-phenyl-2-[4-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)phenyl]diazene (TTAz), 4-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)-2H-chromen-2-one (TTCo) and methyl 2-[3-oxo-6-(2,2':5',2 ''-terthien-3'-ylmethoxy)-3H-xanthen-9-yl] benzoate (TTFlo), were synthesized with good yields and their conducting polymers were electrochemically prepared on ITO electrode surfaces. The effect of chromophore type on electrochemical and optical properties of the polymers was investigated...
