The correlations for vapor pressures of fatty acids, fatty acid methyl and ethyl esters, and simple triglycerides were given based on the available data in the literature. The developed equations enable easy estimation of the critical properties. The group contribution methods were used to develop the estimation method. The estimated properties of the most common lipids were tabulated and the differences between the estimation methods were critically discussed.

Measurement of transport properties of poly(methylmethacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) ion-containing membranes
Şanli, Oya; Aras, Leyla (Wiley, 1990)
Several membranes prepared from poly(methylmethacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid) and its Li+ and Zn2+ ionomers were tested for NaCl, creatinine and urea permeability. The permeabilities of the membranes were explained on the basis of pore contents determined from their scanning electron microscope micrographs. All the membranes showed higher permeabilities during the first 2 hours of experimentation. Introduction of Zn2+ ions into the copolymer as crosslinking agent did not have much effect on the membrane prop...
Investigation of biologically important small molecules: quantum chemical and molecular dynamics calculations
Tekin, Emine Deniz; Erkoç, Şakir; Department of Physics (2010)
In this thesis, six small molecules (S-allylcysteine, S-allyl mercaptocysteine, allicin, methyl propyl disulfide, allyl methyl sulfide and dipropylsulfide) that are found in garlic and onion, and are known to be beneficial for human health were studied using molecular mechanics, semi-empirical methods, ab-initio (Restricted Hartree Fock), and density functional theory. Using the same methods, a synthetic pyrethroid pesticide molecule, called cyfluthrin, was also studied. Structural, vibrational and electron...
Evaluation of Isolated Impact of Trans Fatty Acids on Short Dough Product
Sahin, Kubra; Mert, Behiç; Tekin, Aziz (2016-08-01)
In this study, the effects of trans fatty acids (TFAs) on rheological properties of dough (elastic moduli (G'), loss moduli (G''), complex modulus (G*)) and textural properties of dough and cookie (hardness) were studied. Two different groups of fat samples having different TFA composition but similar solid fat content (SFC) were prepared. Samples of the first group (group 1) had TFA between 0.0 and 56.23 %, while the samples of the second group (group 2) contained trans isomers ranging from 0.0 to 44.40 %....
Preparation of PLZT thin films by chemical solution deposition and their characterization
Kaplan, Burkan; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2005)
In this study, La3+ was substituted into lead zirconate titanate (PZT) system by Pb1-xLax(ZryTi1-y)1-x/4O3 nominal stochiometry and it was processed via chemical solution deposition on (111)-Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si-(100) substrate.PLZT solutions were prepared by mixing two solutions, one of which was obtained by dissolving lead acetate and lanthanum acetate hydrate in 2 methoxyethanol at high temperature. This solution was then mixed with the second solution containing zirconium propoxide and titanium isopropoxide. 4...
Efficient synthesis of 1-alkoxycarbonyl-methyl-2-alkylpyrroles from dichloro- and methoxychloropropylalkyl ketones
Gadzhili, RA; Nadzhafova, RA; Sesenoglu, O (2002-01-01)
The condensation reaction of 2,3-dichloropropyl- and 2-methoxy-3-chloropropyl alkyl ketones with alkyl 2-aminoacetate salts leads to 1-alkoxy-carbonylmethyl-2-alkylpyrroles. These compounds, with various bases, gave 1-carbamoylmethyl-, 1-dialkylaminocarbonylmethyl-, 1-carbazoyl methyl-2-alkylpyrroles and potassium salt of 2-alkyl-pyrrolyl-1-acetic acid.
