We demonstrate by explicit construction that while the untwisted Harrington-Shepard caloron A(mu) is manifestly periodic in Euclidean time, with a period beta =1/T, when transformed to the Weyl (A(0)=0) gauge, the caloron gauge field A(i) is periodic only up to a large gauge transformation, with the winding number equal to the caloron's topological charge. This helps clarify the tunneling interpretation of these solutions, and their relation to Chem-Simons numbers and winding numbers.

Hydrogen-bonded layer-by-layer films of block copolymer micelles with pH-responsive cores
Erel Göktepe, İrem; Zhuk, Aliaksandr; Sukhishvili, Svetlana A. (Elsevier BV, 2011-03-01)
We report on construction of hydrogen-bonded monolayers and multilayers of micelles of the poly(2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate)-block-poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PDEA-b-PNIPAM) with PNIPAM-corona and polybasic PDEA cores. Films were constructed at pH 7.5 and 25 degrees C to assure the deposition of PDEA-b-PNIPAM in the micellar form. When monolayers of block copolymer micelles (BCMs) were exposed to moderately acidic pH values, micellar cores dissolved, while PDEA-b-PNIPAM remained adsorbed at the sur...
Asymptotic equivalence of differential equations and asymptotically almost periodic solutions
Akhmet, Marat; Zafer, A. (Elsevier BV, 2007-09-15)
In this paper we use Rab's lemma [M. Rab, Uber lineare perturbationen eines systems von linearen differentialgleichungen, Czechoslovak Math. J. 83 (1958) 222-229; M. Rab, Note sur les formules asymptotiques pour les solutions d'un systeme d'equations differentielles lineaires, Czechoslovak Math. J. 91 (1966) 127-129] to obtain new sufficient conditions for the asymptotic equivalence of linear and quasilinear systems of ordinary differential equations. Yakubovich's result [V.V. Nemytskii, VX Stepanov, Qualit...
Polarization effects in exclusive semileptonic Lambda(b) -> Lambda l(+) l(-)
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Savcı, Mustafa (2006-05-01)
The independent helicity amplitudes in the Lambda(b) -> Lambda l(+)l(-) decay in the standard model and its minimal extension, i.e., with the new vector type interactions, are calculated. We calculate various asymmetry parameters characterizing the angular dependence of the differential decay width for the cascade decay Lambda(b) -> Lambda(-> a+b) V*(-> l(+)l(-)) with polarized and unpolarized heavy baryons. The sensitivity of the asymmetry parameters to the new Wilson coefficients are analyzed.
QCD sum rules for the anticharmed pentaquark
Sarac, Y; Kim, H; Lee, SH (American Physical Society (APS), 2006-01-01)
We present a QCD sum rule analysis for the anticharmed pentaquark state with and without strangeness. While the sum rules for most of the currents are either nonconvergent or dominated by the DN continuum, the one for the nonstrange pentaquark current composed of two diquarks and an antiquark is convergent and has a structure consistent with a positive-parity pentaquark state after subtracting out the DN continuum contribution. Arguments are presented on the similarity between the result of the present anal...
Sturmian comparison theory for linear and half-linear impulsive differential equations
Ozbekler, A.; Zafer, Ağacık (Elsevier BV, 2005-11-30)
In this paper, we investigate Sturmian comparison theory for second-order half-linear differential equations with fixed moments of impulse actions. It is shown that impulse actions may greatly change the behavior of solutions in comparison. Several oscillation criteria are also derived to illustrate the results.
