We introduce a catalogue of X-ray binaries. The full catalogue is available at http://astroa.physics.metu.edu.tr/XRBC/. The aim of this catalogue is to provide basic information about X-ray sources and their counterparts. The catalog contains positions, information about distances and counterparts, spectral, photometric and timing properties of the X-ray sources in the X-ray and optical bands, as well as references. The list of references, comments and the catalog as a whole will be periodically updated to include the most up-to-date information about all X-ray binaries and guide users to the recent literature on individual sources. In some cases, there is some doubt about the nature of an X-ray source, which has been noted. The sources are ordered according to right ascension. Here, we present a guide to the organization of the full catalogue. The full catalogue is represented here with an excerpt containing two HMXBs and two LMXBs as examples. A Trie-structured Bayesian Model for Unsupervised Morphological Segmentation
Kurfalı, Murathan; Ustun, Ahmet; CAN BUĞLALILAR, BURCU (2017-04-23)
In this paper, we introduce a trie-structured Bayesian model for unsupervised morphological segmentation. We adopt prior information from different sources in the model. We use neural word embeddings to discover words that are morphologically derived from each other and thereby that are semantically similar. We use letter successor variety counts obtained from tries that are built by neural word embeddings. Our results show that using different information sources such as neural word embeddings and letter s...
Pulse timing studies of X-ray binaries: GX1+4,SWIFT J0513.4-6547, X Persei and SXP 1062
Serim, Muhammed Miraç; Baykal, Altan; İnam, Sıtkı Çağdaş; Department of Physics (2019)
This thesis focuses on X-ray timing properties of four different X-ray binary systems, based on archival data of the X-ray missions RXTE, Swift, XMM-Newton, Chandra and Integral. One of the selected sources is a LMXB system GX 1+4 while remaining sources are BeXB systems: SWIFT J0513.4-6547, X Persei and SXP 1062. For GX 1+4, the timing analysis of RXTE-PCA observations between 2001 March 3 and 2003 January 31 are presented. The timing solutions of two different time intervals are constructed. Futhermore, w...
High Resolution XMM-Newton Data of Nova Outbursts using Warm & Hot Absorber Models
Balman, Şölen; Pekon, Y. (2011-07-08)
We reanalyze a selection of the XMM-Newton RGS (Reflection Grating Spectrometer) data of two classical novae; V4743 Sgr and V2491 Cyg. The high resolution nova spectra in the X-ray wavelengths show existence of absorption features (e.g., blue shifted). Our main aim is to model the absorption components detected in the high resolution spectra independently from the assumed continuum model. We assume that there is complex absorption of interstellar, photospheric, and of collisionally and/or photoionized gas o...
A modified algorithm for peer-to-peer security
Akleylek, Sedat; Emmungil, Levent; NURİYEV, URFAT (2007-01-01)
In this paper we present the steganographic approach to peer-to-peer systems with a modified algorithm. This gives the user a very high level of protection against being compelled to disclose its contents. Even the realization of the quantum computer cannot solve NP-hard problem in a polynomial time, a modified algorithm with steganographic use depending on Knapsack problem may make peer-to-peer systems secure.
An approach to measure trace elements in particles collected on fiber filters using EDXRF

A method developed for analyzes of large number of aerosol samples using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) and its performance were discussed in this manuscript. Atmospheric aerosol samples evaluated in this study were collected on cellulose fiber (Whatman-41) filters, employing a Hi-Vol sampler, at a monitoring station located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. between 1993 and 2001. Approximately 1700 samples were collected in this period. Six-hundred of these samples were analyzed by instru...
