CusilTM is a eutectic brazing alloy of 72% silver, 28% copper composition; used to join different materials. The large difference between the standard reduction potentials of silver (0.799V) and copper (0.337V) makes their electrochemical codeposition difficult. A complex ion bath containing KAg(CN)2, CuCN and KCN was used to bring the reduction potentials closer together. The effect of electrolyte concentration on composition and microstructure of electrodeposited Ag-Cu films was investigated at 25oC. A current density of 2 mA/cm2 was used to codeposit copper and silver based on results of voltammetric studies. It was found that increasing KCN and KAg(CN)2 and decreasing CuCN concentrations increased Ag contents of deposits. Surface morphology was spherical grained in general. Increasing Ag content of the deposits resulted in finer grained structures, but deposits containing higher Ag concentrations were found to develop dendritic structures especially after the initial deposition of the Ag-Cu alloy coating on the surface.

Electropolishing of an Fe-Ni-Co Alloy in Acetic Acid-Perchloric Acid Mixture
Aksu, Yasemin; ERDOĞAN, METEHAN; Demirci, Gokhan; Karakaya, İshak (2016-06-02)
Among Fe-Ni-Co alloys, Kovar (53%Fe-29%Ni-17%Co) designated as ASTM F-15 (1), is a well-known glass-sealing alloy. It is also classified as low–expansion alloy (2). Low expansion is required to avoid internal stresses in applications that involve strong ceramic to metal joining such as in vacuum systems (3-6). Electropolishing is applied to obtain smooth metallic surfaces to gain low outgassing rates from the chamber walls in vacuum applications (7-9). The effects of current density, perchloric acid concent...
INFRARED REFLECTIVITY SPECTRA OF TLGAS2-TYPE LAYER CRYSTALS
Hasanlı, Nızamı; RAGIMOV, AS; TAGIROV, VI; GUSEINOV, RE (Elsevier BV, 1982-01-01)
Infrared reflectivity spectra of TIGaS2, TIGaSe2 and TlInS2 layer crystals are measured for the polarization directions perpendicular and parallel to the optical c-axis in the spectral range from 20 to 400 cm-1. The optical dispersion parameters are obtained for both polarization directions. Besides, normal coordinates and effective force constants are determined for high-frequency lattice vibrations.
Comparison of Structural Properties of Copper Deposits from Sulfate and Pyrophosphate Electrolytes

Aluminum is quite often plated to combine the advantages of the light metal with modified surface properties. In this study, copper strike electrodeposits obtained from cyanide and pyrophosphate strike baths were compared in terms of microstructure, and copper pyrophosphate strike was found to yield smoother deposits. Furthermore, about 50 µm thick copper depositions on the strike plated aluminum surface, were prepared from acid copper sulfate and copper pyrophosphate electrolytes to compare structural prop...
ELECTROINITIATED POLYMERIZATION OF ACROLEIN BY DIRECT AND INDIRECT ELECTRON-TRANSFER VIA CONTROLLED POTENTIAL ELECTROLYSIS
Toppare, Levent Kamil; Akbulut, Ural (Informa UK Limited, 1990-01-01)
Electroinitiated polymerization of acrolein has been achieved by controlled potential electrolysis at the reduction peak potential of the monomer for direct electron transfer. Kinetics and type of mechanism of the polymerization have been investigated. the structure of the polymer has also been examined by IR spectroscopy. in a separate experiment, a small amount of CCI4 was added to a polymerization system. Since the reduction peak potential of CCI4 appears at a more anodic region than that of acrolein on ...
DIRECTIONAL DEPENDENCE OF EXTRAORDINARY INFRARED OSCILLATOR PARAMETERS OF TLGAS2-TYPE LAYER CRYSTALS
Hasanlı, Nızamı; TAGIROV, VI (Elsevier BV, 1983-01-01)
The directional dispersion of IR-active modes of TlGaS2, TlGaSe2 and TlInS2 layersingle crystals has been investigated, depending on the angle between the phonon wave vector q and the optical c-axis. Owing to the possibility of preparation crystals with various orientations of reflecting surfaces with respect to the optical c-axis, it was of interest to check the applicability of the generalized Born and Huang theory of long-wave optical vibrations in uniaxial crystals to TlGaS2-type layer crystals.
