Design and implementation of a triple-band re-configurable microstrip antenna

2006-09-12
A hybrid combination of RF MEMS and microstrip patch triple band inset-fed reconfigurable antenna is presented. A rectangular slot is placed on the antenna to obtain a dual frequency antenna. Furthermore, MEMS switches are placed on the slot to change the electrical length of the slot and obtain a third resonance frequency. Similarly, MEMS switches are used in the inset to match the antenna input impedance at different frequencies. All of the parts are manufactured and the hybrid structure will be built.

Design of a Re-configurable dual frequency microstrip antenna with integrated RF MEMS switches
Onat, Sinon; Ünlü, Mehmet; Alatan, Lale; Demir, Şimşek; Akın, Tayfun (2005-07-08)
The complete design of a re-configurable dual frequency antenna structure, including its integrated RF MEMS switches and their actuation lines together with a CPW feed, is introduced. The number of switches used in the inset is decreased compared to the hybrid design we presented previously (Onat, S. et al., IEEE Int. Antennas and Propag. Symp., vol.2, p.1812-15, 2004). Instead of utilizing available RF MEMS switches, new switches suitable for this application are designed. Two different switch configuratio...
A Novel Technique for Rejecting the WLAN and WiMAX Bands in Ultrawideband Antenna
Ahmadian, D.; Ghobadi, C.; Nourinia, J. (2009-09-01)
In this article a compact ultrawideband (UWB) circular patch antenna with a novel technique for rejecting the WLAN and WiMAX bands from the UWB frequency band is presented This method is based on applying a band notch structure instead of dual band notch system. The design of this UWB antenna is in the way that is able to reject the WiMAX band without using a filter structure and instead by introducing a semi C-shaped controllable notch band in the radiated patch which is capable of filtering the WLAN band ...
Design and analysis of ultra-wideband (UWB) printed monopole antennas of circular shape
Karadağ, Serkan; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2017)
This study proposes three microstrip line fed circular monopole antennas with ultra-wideband (UWB) characteristics, improved omnidirectional radiation pattern and WLAN (5 GHz-6 GHz) band notched characteristics for wireless and mobile communication systems. In this thesis, first, a microstrip line fed ultra-wideband ring monopole antenna with improved omnidirectional radiation pattern is designed, fabricated and measured. Two corners are tapered on the ground plane for increasing impedance bandwidth. In ord...
Design of triple-band reconfigurable microstrip antenna employing RF-MEMS switches
Onat, S; Alatan, Lale; Demir, S (2004-06-26)
A triple-band inset-fed reconfigurable microstrip antenna is designed. The switching between the three different frequency bands is achieved through the use of RF-MEMS switches placed along the inset and along the slot placed on the radiating patch.
Design of a dual polarized low profile antenna for microwave brain imaging
Üçel, Kaan; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-5-9)
In this thesis, a low profile, low cost, wide band (0.9-2GHz) dual linearly polarized printed dipole antenna is designed to be used in microwave brain imaging systems. Dual polarization feature offers superior data acquisition through polarization diversity for better image quality. Starting from a simple printed dipole, antenna structure is modified step by step to meet these design requirements. Since a conductive surface in close vicinity of the antenna affects antenna performance, in order to obtain uni...
