Effect of cleaning process on the combustion characteristics of two different rank coals

2001-11-01
In this research, thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) was used to determine the combustion characteristics of two different rank coals (Tuncbilek and Af in Elbistan) before and after cleaning process. Applying sink-float process cleaned raw coal samples, and optimum-separating densities for each sample was determined using the criteria of "degree of washability". The results indicated that coal cleaning was very effective on Tuncbilek sample due to its high rank. TG/DTG analysis of raw and cleaned samples indicated different reaction regions occurring at different temperature intervals. Easy combustibility and long-lasting combustion were the distinctive effects of coal cleaning on raw coals. Kinetic analysis of the samples showed that clean coals require lower activation energies to initiate the combustion process than raw coals.

Effects of curing on structure and thermal characteristics of polybenzoxazine based on p-nitroaniline
Orhan Lekesiz, Tuğba; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2016-07-01)
Among the polybenzoxazines, nitroaniline based benzoxazine polymers are not popular for which the polymerization process overlaps with the beginning of the thermal degradation. Phenol and p-nitro aniline based benzoxazine monomer was synthesized and polymerized by applying different temperatures and curing periods systematically to investigate the effect of curing program on polymerization mechanisms via direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry, DP-MS technique. In order to get a better insight on the process, lo...
Effect of brine composition on oil recovery by waterflooding
Bagci, S; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Türksoy, Ulaş (2001-01-01)
In this study, the effect of brine composition on oil recovery by waterflooding was experimentally studied. Different compositions of brine were injected in to packed one-dimensional unconsolidated limestone with Garzan crude oil (26 degrees API) and distilled water. Ten different brine compositions, three brine mixtures are prepared and distilled water was used for injection throughout the study. The highest recovery 18.8% higher than distilled water injection) considering all the experiments was obtained ...
The effect of chemical crosslinking of invertase with dimethyl suberimidate on its pH stability
Kaplan, O; Bakir, O (1998-03-01)
The effect of chemical crosslinking of invertase with a homo-bifunctional bisimidoester on its pH stability was studied. Dimethyl suberimidate (DMS) was used as the crosslinker and pH inactivation was investigated in the pH range of 2.5-10. The inactivation mechanisms of both native and DMS crosslinked invertases were observed to follow first-order kinetics during prolonged incubation. Although DMS crosslinking of invertase increased the pH stability of the enzyme over the complete pH range, it was especial...

Effect of microcapsulated red phosphorus on flame retardant, thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic polyurethane composites filled with huntite&hydromagnesite mineral
ATABEK SAVAŞ, Lemiye; Deniz, Tugba Kaya; Tayfun, Umit; DOĞAN, Mehmet (2017-01-01)
The effect of microcapsulated red phosphorus (mRP) was studied on the flame retardant, thermal and mechanical properties of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composites containing Huntite&hydromagnesite (HH). The flame retardant properties of TPU based composites were investigated using limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical burning test (UL 94), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and mass loss calorimeter. The mechanical properties of composites were studied using tensile test and dynamic mechanical analysis (...
