Effect of heating rate on thermal properties and kinetics of raw and cleaned coal samples
Özbas, Kazim Esber; Hicyilmaz, Cahit; Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2003-01-01)
In this article, thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) was used to determine the effect of heating rate on the thermal properties and kinetics of raw and cleaned coal samples from Soma, Tuncbilek, and Afsin Elbistan regions. TG/DTG experiments were carried out at 4 different heating rates (5, 10, 15, and 20degreesC/min). Generally, for all of the samples higher peak and burnout temperatures were measured with an increasing heating rate. Kinetic parameters of the samples were determined using an Arrhenius-type kinetic m...
Effect of clay on crude oil combustion by thermal analysis techniques
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-05-01)
This research was aimed to investigate the role of clay on the combustion and kinetic behavior of crude oils in limestone matrix. For this purpose, simultaneous TG (thermogravimetry) and DTA (differential thermal analysis) experiments were performed at three different heating rates as 10-15 and 20 degrees C min(-1), respectively. A uniform trend of decreasing activation energies was observed with the addition of clay. It was concluded that clays surface area affects the values of Arrhenius constant, while i...
Effect of heating rate on thermoluminescence characteristics of Y2O3 nanoparticles
Hasanlı, Nızamı; Gasanly, N.M. (Elsevier BV, 2019-8)
The present paper reports the results of heating rate dependencies of thermoluminescence (TL) peaks observed for Y2O3 nanoparticles in the below room temperature region. TL glow curve presented six peaks around 62.5, 91.3, 114.5, 162.7, 196.0 and 214.9 K for heating rate of 0.4 K/s. The increase of heating rate resulted in increase in peak maximum temperature and decrease in peak maximum intensity as expected according to theoretical information. Peak maximum temperature-heating rate dependencies of observe...
Effect of particle size on coal pyrolysis
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Karacan, Ozgen; Hicyilmaz, Cahit (1998-01-01)
This research comprises the effect of particle size on coal pyrolysis by thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). All the experiments were conducted at non-isothermal heating conditions with a heating rate of 10 degrees C min(-1). in the temperature range of 20-600 degrees C, under nitrogen atmosphere. Different fractions of Cayirhan coal coal showed differences in TG/DTG curves, peak temperatures and residue values. The Arrhenius model is applied to determine the kinetic parameters from TG/DTG curves.
Influence of reservoir rock composition on the combustion kinetics of crude oil
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2009-08-01)
In this research, the effect of different lithology (limestone and sandstone) on the combustion of light crude oils was investigated using thermal analysis techniques. Three distinct reaction regions were identified in all of the crude oil+limestone and sandstone mixtures, known as low temperature oxidation (LTO), fuel deposition (FD) and high temperature oxidation (HTO), respectively. Kinetic analysis of the crude oil+limestone and sandstone mixtures was performed using Coats and Redfern method and the res...
