Construction of electrochromic devices using thiophene based conducting polymers

2007-01-01
Dual type polymer electrochromic devices (ECDs) based on poly(terepthalic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl)ester) (PTATE), its copolymer with thiophene P(TATE-co-Th) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) have been constructed. Spectroelectrochemistry, switching ability and stability of the devices were investigated by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and Cyclic voltammetry. These devices exhibit low switching voltages (between 0.0 V and +1.6 V), short switching times with reasonable switching stability under atmospheric conditions.

Method for Dynamic Material Property Characterization of Soft-Tissue-Mimicking Isotropic Viscoelastic Materials Using Fractional Damping Models
Martin, Bryn A.; Kutluay, Umit; Yazıcıoğlu, Yiğit (ASTM International, 2013-09-01)
Characterization of the mechanical properties of human-tissue-mimicking silicone elastomers is important for producing accurate tissue models for experimentation. However, the viscoelastic and frequency-dependent material properties of elastomers are difficult to quantify. We present a material characterization technique for a silicone elastomer used to mimic human soft tissue based on generalized-Maxwell-type material models with and without fractional dissipating mechanisms. The silicone specimens were pr...
Interactions at fiber/matrix interface in short fiber reinforced amorphous thermoplastic composites modified with micro- and nano-fillers
Isitman, Nihat Ali; Aykol, Muratahan; Kaynak, Cevdet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-01-01)
This study aims at systematically extracting fiber/matrix interfacial strength in short-glass fiber-reinforced polymer composites using an experimental micromechanics approach which employs mechanical properties and residual fiber length distributions to derive the apparent interfacial shear strength. We started from neat high-impact polystyrene matrix short-glass fiber-reinforced composites (HIPS/GF) with varying fiber loading and proceeded toward HIPS/GF hybrid composites containing micro- and nano-filler...
Direct measurement of charge transport through helical poly(ethyl propiolate) nanorods wired into gaps in single walled carbon nanotubes
Wang, Nan; Yano, Koji; Durkan, Colm; Plank, Natalie; Welland, Mark E.; Zhang, Yan; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Mann, Mark; Amaratunga, G. A. J.; Milne, William I. (IOP Publishing, 2009-03-11)
We report the direct measurement of electrical transport through rod-like polymer molecules, of poly(ethyl propiolate) (PEP), utilizing single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as electrodes. The electrical properties of the devices were measured (i) before cutting a SWNT, (ii) when a SWNT was cut and (iii) after PEP deposition into the nanoscale gap in a cut SWNT. The gate-dependent electrical properties showed a reduction in current from I-on = 2.4 x 10(-7) A for SWNT devices to I-on = 3.6 x 10(-9) A for PE...
Impact essential work of fracture toughness of ABS/polyamide-6 blends compatibilized with olefin based copolymers
Ozkoc, Guralp; Bayram, Göknur; Bayramli, Erdal (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2008-04-01)
The impact fracture toughness of acrylonitrile-styrene-butadiene/polyamide-6 (ABS/PA6) blends compatibilized with 5% by weight carbon monoxide modified ethylene-n butyl acrylate-maleic anhydride (EnBACO-MAH) or ethylene-methyl acrylate-glycidyl methacrylate (EMA-GMA) copolymers were examined as a function of blend ratio by standard Charpy tests, Essential Work of Fracture (EWF) Methodology and fracture surface morphologies. The samples were first processed in twin-screw extruder and they were subsequently i...
Titanium-magnesium based composites: Mechanical properties and in-vitro corrosion response in Ringer's solution
ESEN, ZİYA; Dikici, Burak; Duygulu, Ozgur; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi (Elsevier BV, 2013-06-20)
Ti-Mg composite rods exhibiting both bioinert and biodegradable characteristics have been manufactured by hot rotary swaging from elemental powders of titanium and magnesium. As a result of processing, spherical magnesium powders elongated in the direction of deformation and the dendritic structure in starting magnesium powders transformed into highly equiaxed grains. Magnesium particles in the outer layer of the composites were decorated by thin layer of MgO while the interior parts were free from oxides. ...
