Industrial design and the mass customization of electronic consumer goods
Kayğın Sel, Sultan; Pedgley, Owaın Francıs; Hasdoğan, Gülay Fatma; Department of Industrial Design (2013)
Mass customization is promoted in manufacturing industry as a way to satisfy individual customer requirements in a flexible, efficient and cost effective way. However, mass customization within the specific sector of ‘electronic consumer goods’ is relatively underdeveloped, whilst the contributions of industrial designers to mass customization remain quite unclear. This research redresses both of these issues, elaborating on the possibilities of mass-customization in the electronic consumer goods sector, an...

Industrial use of High Hydrostatic Pressure in Food Industry Realities for Food Safety
Alpas, Hami (2016-10-26)
High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) also called as ultra high pressure (UHP), high pressure processing (HPP), high pressure pasteurization (HPP) has been studied over 30 years under different names. Recently, it has been branded-patented as “pascalization” and is a “new”, “different”, “non-thermal” food processing method. Its main difference from conventional thermal processing is the addition of the third variable pressure to heat/time combination that already exists making it a 3-D process. More importantly t...
INDUSTRIAL ENERGY-CONSUMPTION PATTERNS AND POSSIBLE SAVINGS IN TURKEY
TASDEMIROGLU, E (Elsevier BV, 1993-03-01)
Quantitative information on industrial energy consumption patterns in different industrial sectors of Turkiye has been analyzed. The more important energy-conservation opportunities in the heavy energy-consuming industrial activities have been identified. Considerable savings potentials exist through the application of short-term measures involving existing technology. The technological potential for conservation in industrial activities is reviewed.
INDUSTRIAL ADOPTION OF MODEL-BASED SYSTEMS ENGINEERING: AN INVESTIGATION WITHIN THE DEFENCE INDUSTRY
Bayramoğlu, Alitan; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Department of Bioinformatics (2022-1-24)
Increasing competition in contemporary industrial settings drive organizations to unceasingly seek ways to improve the overall quality of their products and services, and the processes followed in order to procure them. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) has been put forth with promises to remedy shortcomings constituted by legacy document-based engineering approaches. However, for an organization to fully adopt MBSE, it must overcome several human, financial, organizational and technological factors. T...
