The mechanical properties of block copolymers of polypyrrole and pyrrolyl-ended azobis-polytetrahydrofuran (TPPy) and graft copolymers of pyrrolyl-ended H-type polydimethylsiloxane (SPPy) were investigated and compared with those of polypyrrole (PPy), Conducting films were prepared electrochemically at a constant potential and doped with p-toluene sulfonate. Structural Properties of Pristine and Defected ZnO Nanosheets Under Biaxial Strain: Molecular Dynamics Simulations
Kilic, Mehmet Emin; Erkoç, Şakir (2016-02-01)
Structural properties of defected zinc oxide nanosheets have been investigated by performing classical molecular dynamics simulations. An atomistic potential energy function has been used to represent the interactions among the atoms. Different types of defects (vacancy, exchange, Stone Wales like, line defect and ring-like) at the central region have been considered for the nanosheets. Strain has been applied to the generated ZnO nanostructures along both x- and y-axes, which has been realized at two diffe...
Investigation of copolymers of thiophene-functionalized polystyrene with pyrrole by pyrolysis mass spectrometry
Papila, Ozge; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2006-06-01)
The thermal and structural characterization of electrochemically synthesized thiophene-functionalized polystyrene and pyrrole (PS/PPy) and their copolymers were investigated by direct pyrolysis mass spectrometry. The pyrolysis data confirmed the growth of polypyrrole onto the pendant thiophene moiety of polystyrene. It is determined that the electrolytic film has different properties from the mechanical mixture and the related homopolymers.
Novel poly(2,5-dithienylpyrrole) (PSNS) derivatives functionalized with azobenzene, coumarin and fluorescein chromophore units: spectroelectrochemical properties and electrochromic device applications
Yigit, Deniz; Hacioglu, Serife O.; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2015-01-01)
Three novel 2,5-dithienylpyrrole (SNS) derivatives containing strong chromophore units such as azobenzene, coumarin and fluorescein were synthesized to investigate the effects of chromophore substituents on the electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of resulting polymers. Electrochemical and optoelectronic characteristics of the homopolymers, poly(1-(2-(4-(phenyldiazenyl)phenoxy)ethyl)-2,5di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole) (PTPTAz), poly(4-(2-(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)ethoxy)-2H-chrome...
Electronic properties of polypyrrole polyindene composite metal junctions
Bozkurt, A; Ercelebi, C; Toppare, Levent Kamil (1997-04-15)
Junction properties between conducting polymer composites of polypyrrole/polyindene (PPy/PIn) with different conductivities and metals like Pt, Au, Al and In have been investigated. Rectifying junctions were observed for low work function metals, In and Al; however, high work function metals, Pt and Au, were observed to form ohmic contacts to PPy/PIn composite in the sandwich geometry. The rectifying behavior of the metal/composite/Pt junctions improved when the conductivity of the composite was decreased f...
Conducting graft copolymers of pyrrole and thiophene with random copolymers of methyl methacrylate and 3-methylthienyl methacrylate
Guner, Y; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Hepuzer, Y; Yagci, Y (2004-08-01)
Random copolymers of 3-methyl thienylmethacrylate and methyl methacrylate were synthesized via free radical polymerization. Electro-copolymerizations of random copolymers with thiophene and/or pyrrole were carried out in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB), water-p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA) solvent-electrolyte couples. Oxidative polymerization of thiophene functionalized random copolymer was also achieved by constant current electrolysis and chemical polymerization. The characteriza...
