Circular arrays of log-periodic antennas for broadband applications
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2006-11-10)
Circular arrays of log-periodic (LP) antennas are designed for broadband applications. A sophisticated electromagnetic simulation environment involving integral equations and fast solvers is developed to analyze the LP arrays both accurately and efficienuy. The resulting matrix equation obtained by the discretization of the electric field integral equation is solved iteratively via the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Genetic algorithms interacting with MLFMA is employed to optimize the excitati...
Spherical harmonic-based random fields based on real particle 3D data: Improved numerical algorithm and quantitative comparison to real particles
Liu, X.; Garboczi, E. J.; Grigoriu, M.; Lu, Y.; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan (2011-02-15)
The shape of particles often plays an important role in how they are used and in the properties of composite systems in which they are incorporated. When building models of systems that include real particles, it is often of interest to generate new, virtual particles whose 3D shape statistics are based on the 3D shape statistics of a collection of real particles. A previous paper showed mathematically how this can be carried out, but only had a small set of real particle shape data to use and only made a l...
Spherical harmonics based acoustic scene analysis for object-based audio
Çöteli, Mert Burkay; Hacıhabiboğlu, Hüseyin; Department of Information Systems (2021-2-19)
Object-based audio relies on elemental audio signals from individual sound sources and their associated metadata to be reconstructed at the listener side. While defining audio objects in a production setting is straightforward, it is not trivial to extract audio objects from more realistic recording scenarios such as concerts. Thus, existing object-based audio standards also define scene-based formats alongside objectbased representations that provide immersive audio, but without the flexibility provided by...
Radial motion of highly conducting sphere in magnetic field
Gurcan, OD; Mirnov, VV; Ucer, D (2000-05-01)
Radial motion of a highly conducting sphere in external magnetic field is considered. It both perturbs the external magnetic field and generates an electric field. Exact analytic solution has been obtained previously for a uniformly expanding sphere. In the present paper a new exact solution is derived which is valid not only for expansion but for contraction as well. It allows us to calculate analytically the total electromagnetic energy irradiated by the sphere involved in periodical radial motion with ar...
Radial excitations of the decuplet baryons
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Sundu Pamuk, Hayriye (2017-04-10)
The ground and first excited states of the decuplet baryons are studied using the two-point QCD sum rule approach. The mass and residue of these states are computed and compared with the existing experimental data and other theoretical predictions. The results for the masses of the ground state particles as well as the excited Delta and Sigma* states are in good consistency with experimental data. Our results on the excited Xi* and Omega(-) states reveal that the experimentally poorly known Xi(1950) and Ome...
