Generalized random spreading performance analysis of CDMA over GWSSUS fading channels
Ertuğ, Özgür; Baykal, Buyurman; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
Since direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) is an interference-limited random multiple-access scheme, the reduction of co-channel interference with either interference suppression or interference cancellation multiuser receivers and/or power control to prevent detrimental near-far situations is vital for improved performance. Up to date, some contributions investigated randomly-spread asymptotically - large number of users and large bandwidth - large CDMA systems with multiuser receivers a...
Generalized resource management for heterogeneous cloud data centers
Erol, Ahmet; Güran Schmidt, Şenan Ece.; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
OpenStack is a widely used management tool for cloud computing which is designed to work on servers and allocate standard computing resources such as CPU, memory or disk. The current trend for integrating different hardware accelerators such as FPGAs and GPUs in the cloud requires managing these heterogeneous resources. In this thesis, we propose a generalization for OpenStack Nova project which extends the relevant data structures to include these new resources. More importantly, we present a new lightweig...
Comprehensive modeling of heat and mass transport in a micropillar evaporator
Yuncu, Göksel; Dursunkaya, Zafer; Akkuş, Yiğit; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-4-05)
Thin-film evaporation and the replenishing capillary liquid flow have paramount importance for various technological applications spanning from desalination to electronics cooling. With the developments enabling faster and cheaper yet more precise fabrication, evaporators with micropillar arrays have attracted substantial attention to sustain efficient evaporation fed by passive liquid transport. Although considerable effort has been devoted to designing optimized wicks, the full picture is still blurry due...
Comparative evaluation of absorbing boundary conditions using Green's functions for layered media
Aksun, MI; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin (1996-02-01)
Absorbing boundary conditions are comparatively studied using the Green's functions of the vector and scalar potentials for multilayer geometries and general sources. Since the absorbing boundaries are introduced as additional layers with predefined reflection coefficients into the calculation of the Green's functions, this approach provides an absolute measure of the effectiveness of different absorbing boundaries. The Green's functions are calculated using different reflection coefficients corresponding t...
General analysis of time evolution of decay spectrum in B-0 -> pi(+)pi(-)l(+)l(-)
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Özpineci, Altuğ; Savcı, Mustafa (2002-01-21)
Using the general, model-independent form of effective Hamiltonian, the decay spectrum of B-0 --> pi(+)pi(-)l(+)l(-) decay is studied. The sensitivity of experimentally measurable asymmetries to the new Wilson coefficients and time is studied. It is observed that different asymmetries are sensitive to the new Wilson coefficients and they can serve as an efficient tool for establishing new physics beyond SM.
