Energy-efficiency optimization of small cage-induction motors
Irimie, D. L.; Radulescu, M. M.; Lar, I. (2011-09-10)
Starting form an existing induction motor, which was tested according to an international standard, an optimized model is developed in order to reach higher energy efficiency. The optimization procedure is based on the analytical model of the machine. Hence, the first step is to develop the model and to compare the results with the data provided by the international standard for validity purpose. The next step is to introduce the analytical model equation into the optimization process. Then, the results of ...
Energy Optimization of a Plug in Electric Vehicle Along a Fixed Path
Gürü, Bilgenur; Tural, Mustafa Kemal; Atashıkhoeı, Arsham (null; 2018-11-04)
Energy Optimization of a Plug in Electric Vehicle Along aFixed PathGiven an origin-destination pair and a fixed path between them, we consider theproblem of determining the speed of a plug-in electric vehicle on each roadsegment along the path, the charging stations the vehicle will stop by, and howmuch to recharge at each stop so as to minimize the total amount energyconsumption of the vehicle. We assume that there is a speedlimit on each road segment which cannot be violated by the vehicle. Moreover, it i...
Energy-efficient scheduling of packet transmissions over wireless networks
Balaji, Prabhakar; Uysal, Elif; El Gamal, Abbas (null; 2002-06-23)
The paper develops algorithms for minimizing the energy required to transmit packets in a wireless environment. It is motivated by the following observation: In many channel coding schemes it is possible to significantly lower the transmission energy by transmitting packets over a long period of time. Based on this observation, we show that for a variety of scenarios the offline energy-efficient transmission scheduling problem reduces to a convex optimization problem. Unlike for the special case of a single...
Energy benchmarking for residential buildings
Tereci, Aysegul; Elias Özkan, Soofia Tahira; Eicker, Ursula (2013-05-01)
The impact of the urban form on the energy demand of buildings is difficult to quantify as, usually, the mutual shading of buildings in urban settings is not included in dynamic building simulations. As a result, there is not much information available on how the total primary energy demand is affected by the specific urban form.
