A critical analysis of social inclusion in Turkey : the case study of sodes (Social Support Programme)
Kurtipek, Rıdvan; Kalaycıoğlu, Hediye Sibel; Department of Sociology (2012)
Fighting against the regional development disparities has been considered as one of the most important public policies recently. In this regard, Social Support Program, endorsed in 2008 under GAP Action Plan, is regarded as an important example of public intervention with increasing budget and geographical expansion. Objective of SODES is improving social inclusion of disadvantaged groups and enhancing regional social development. Accordingly, projects prepared by local actors to provide social inclusion, t...
Global Design Activism Survey

Downward integration of the third generation in the Turkish community in a small German town: a case study in Goslar
Güllüpınar, Fuat; Rittersberger Tılıç, Helga İda; Department of Sociology (2010)
The study examines the recent transformations of integration policies and citizenship laws in Germany with a special focus on the experience of the children of Turkish immigrants in Goslar, a small town. By following ―civic stratification thesis, it argues that the conditions and restrictions differentiated by different migrant categories and rights regarding entry, family reunification, welfare benefits, and labor market access go along with a particular legal status of those admitted migrants create hiera...
An examination of possible contributions of new media terms and concepts to the field of product design
Akın, Ahmet Atıf; Kurtgözü, Aren Emre; Department of Industrial Design (2005)
New media offer new ways for communication and production. This study aims to explore possible outcomes of the review of the new media literature for a contribution to the field of product design. Examining new media in a descriptive manner, the study presents its basic principles and characteristics. Relevant parts of new media and product design literature are reviewed in order to locate possible connections and/or exchanges between major concepts used in these fields. The two focal points of the study ar...
Polarization phenomena in vector meson photoproduction on nucleons near threshold
Babacan, H; Babacan, T; Gokalp, A; Yılmaz, Osman (2000-10-21)
We propose and develop a model for rho (0) and omega photoproduction on nucleons near threshold based on t-, s-, and u-channel amplitudes. In t-channel we consider pi- and sigma- exchanges and we take the coupling constants (g(v), g(t)) in (s+u) nucleon contributions as free parameters. We fit our model to the available experimental differential cross-section data of gamma + p --> p + V reactions. We find that different models which are equivalently good for the description of the differential cross-section...
