Covariance Matrix Estimation of Texture Correlated Compound-Gaussian Vectors for Adaptive Radar Detection
Candan, Çağatay; Pascal, Frederic (2022-01-01)
Covariance matrix estimation of compound-Gaussian vectors with texture-correlation (spatial correlation for the adaptive radar detectors) is examined. The texture parameters are treated as hidden random parameters whose statistical description is given by a Markov chain. States of the chain represent the value of texture coefficient and the transition probabilities establish the correlation in the texture sequence. An Expectation-Maximization (EM) method based covariance matrix estimation solution is given ...
Selective sampling of labelers for approximating the crowd
Ertekin Bolelli, Şeyda; Rudin, Cynthia (null; 2012-11-05)
In this paper, we present CrowdSense, an algorithm for estimating the crowd’s majority opinion by querying only a subset of it. CrowdSense works in an online fashion where examples come one at a time and it dynamically samples subsets of labelers based on an exploration/exploitation criterion. The algorithm produces a weighted combination of a subset of the labelers’ votes that approximates the crowd’s opinion. We also present two probabilistic variants of CrowdSense that are based on different assumptions ...
Comparative study of attitude control methods based on Euler angles, quaternions, angle-axis pairs and orientation matrices
Özgören, Mustafa Kemal (2019-03-01)
This paper presents a comparative study about the attitude control methods based on four commonly used error indicators, namely the triad of 3-2-1 deviational Euler angles, the error quaternion, the deviational angle-axis pair and the orientation error matrix. These error indicators are used here with the same backstepping control law to have a common basis of comparison. This control law makes the controller track a restoring angular velocity generated here specifically for each error indicator. This compa...
Optimal redundancy resolution for kinematically redundant parallel manipulators
Tunç, Tansel Sıtkı; Özgören, Mustafa Kemal; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2014)
In this study, the redundancy resolution of kinematically redundant parallel manipulators has been investigated as an optimization problem. The emerging optimization problem has been solved globally using a hybrid genetic algorithm. This algorithm has been applied as an example to a planar parallel manipulator which has four degrees of freedom. It has been assumed that the manipulator is used so that only the tip point of its end-effector is controlled. Therefore, the rotation angle of the end effector has ...
Shape similarity measurement for boundary based features
Arica, N; Yarman Vural, Fatoş Tunay (2005-01-01)
In this study, we propose two algorithms for measuring the distance between shape boundaries. In the algorithms, shape boundary is represented by the Beam Angle Statistics (BAS), which maps 2-D shape information into a set of 1-D functions. Firstly, we adopt Dynamic Time Warping method to develop an efficient distance calculation scheme, which is consistent with the human visual system in perceiving shape similarity. Since the starting point of the representations may differ in shapes, the best corresponden...
