System Identification and Controller Development for a Small Turbojet Engine
Ekinci, Sinan; Kutay, Ali Türker; Uzol, Oğuz; Yiğittürk, Melih (null; 2011-09-16)
This paper presents the results of a system identification and controller development study for a small generic turbojet engine. Custom Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system hardware and embedded software are designed and implemented on the engine. The system also controls the automatic start-up sequence for the engine to ensure a safe and guaranteed ignition under all-weather conditions as well as safe acceleration until the engine reaches the idle speed. The shut-down sequence is also contr...
Controller synthesis for an I/O-based hierarchical system architecture
Perk, Sebastian; Moor, Thomas; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2008-10-08)
In our previous work, a framework for the hierarchical design of discrete event systems has been introduced that is based on a notion of inputs and outputs. I/O-plant models describe the interaction of each subsystem with the operator (or controller) and the environment. By alternation of subsystem composition and controller synthesis, a hierarchy of controllers is obtained that complements a hierarchy of environment models. An admissibility condition was presented that implies liveness while allowing for a...

Control electronics for mems gyroscopes and its implementation in a CMOS technology
Eminoğlu, Burak; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
This thesis, for the first time in literature, introduces a comprehensive study about analog controller designs for MEMS vibratory gyroscopes. A controller of a MEMS gyroscope is mandatory for robust operation, which is insensitive to sensor parameters and ambient con- ditions. Errors in the controller design not only deteriorate transient performance, such as settling time and overshoot, but also cause performance degradation due to stability problems. Accordingly, true controller design for a gyroscope is...
