Tuned vibration absorber design for a supported hollow cylindrical structure
Aksoy, Tuğrul; Özgen, Gökhan Osman; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2015)
Supported hollow structural elements have a usage area in various types of structures or machines. They exhibit an oscillatory behavior under various excitations since their modal frequencies are quite low. This behavior results in vibrations which reach huge amplitudes especially at the tip of the structures. This situation may be harmful for the structural integrity of the structures and may reduce the service life. Moreover, these vibrations can distort the performance of the machines’ which involve the ...
Double-barrier long wavelength SiGe/Si heterojunction internal photoemission infrared photodetectors
Aslan, B; Turan, Raşit; Liu, HC; Baribeau, JM; Buchanan, M; Chow-Chong, P (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2004-01-01)
This work studies the effect of a double barrier on the photoresponse spectrum of SiGe/Si heterojunction internal photoemission infrared photodetectors. Results are compared with those of a single barrier sample which has nominally the same parameters. It is shown that the cut-off wavelength of the multi-barrier device depends on the operating temperature; therefore, it can be tuned to the desired region within the device capacity by changing the device temperature. The proof of concept device, which has tw...
Differential K-band vector modulator IC design at 180 NM CMOS SOI process
Güngör, Ömer Fevzi; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Koçer, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
Massive MIMO and beamforming are technologies that may enable ultrafast 5G network. They are predicted to be used widely in next-generation high capacity communication systems. In the implementation of beamforming and MIMO, the large number of antennas and RF control components are utilized. However; some challenges related to power consumption, control complexity, cost, and size of transceiver have arisen. Vector Modulator (VM) may be one possible effective solution to these challenges because it merges th...
COMPOUND-POISSON SOFTWARE-RELIABILITY MODEL
SAHINOGLU, M (1992-07-01)
The probability density estimation of the number of software failures in the event of clustering or clumping of the software failures is the subject of this paper. A discrete compound Poisson (CP) prediction model, as opposed to a Poisson (P) process, is proposed for the random variable (rv) X(rem), which is the remaining number of software failures. The compounding distributions, which are assumed to govern the failure sizes at Poisson arrivals, are respectively taken to be geometric when failures are fo...
Fused conjugated structures for organic electronics
Cevher, Şevki Can; Çırpan, Ali; Department of Chemistry (2019)
In the first application, to investigate the organic light emitting diode device performances three different polymers were synthesized in which fused phenantroimidazole ring was combined with benzotirazole based polymeric backbone. P1 incorporated electroluminescent device exhibited superior performance. The highest luminance efficiency for P1 based device was 3.01 cd/A with a luminance value of 140,180 cd/m2. In the second part, monomer M1 was synthesized and functionalized from ketone (M1) to oxime (M2) ...
