Aims: Investigation of concerted effects of cations, i.e. Mg2+ and Mn2+, in combination with their anions, i.e. sulphate, chloride and acetate (Ac), on the physiology of Bacillus licheniformis carrying pHV1431::subC to improve the fermentation medium for serine alkaline protease (SAP) production, whereupon, determination of the acid that can be used in pH control.

Inorganic phosphate has a crucial effect on Cry3Aa delta-endotoxin production
Kurt, Aygül; Özcengiz, Gülay (Wiley, 2005-01-01)
Aims: The study aimed at increasing Cry3Aa delta-endotoxin production by a local isolate of Bacillus thuringiensis (B.t. strain Mm2). To this end, different nutritional conditions were tested for their effects on Cry3Aa yields.
Phosphate enrichment and fed-batch operation for prolonged beta-lactamase production by Bacillus licheniformis
Ileri, N.; Çalık, Pınar; Sengul, A. (Wiley, 2007-05-01)
Aims: Investigation of the phosphate effect and feeding strategy, i.e. linear and exponential feeding, to improve beta-lactamase production by Bacillus licheniformis considering the viability of the cells.
Monovalent cations and their influence on activated sludge floc chemistry, structure, and physical characteristics
Kara, F.; Gurakan, G. C.; Sanin, Faika Dilek (Wiley, 2008-06-01)
Multivalent cations have been known to be important components of activated sludge floc structure due to their bridging ability of the negatively charged sites on the biopolymer network. Recently in batch systems it was found that excess concentration of monovalent cations led to the deterioration in settleability, dewaterability of sludges and effluent quality of the system. In this study, effect of influent monovalent cations (potassium and sodium) on activated sludge floc structure was investigated in se...
Kinetics model for growth of Pseudomonas putida F1 during benzene, toluene and phenol biodegradation
Abuhamed, T; Bayraktar, E; Mehmetoglu, T; Mehmetoglu, U (Elsevier BV, 2004-04-30)
The effect of adaptation of Pseudomonas putida F1 ATCC 700007 (Pp F1) to the biodegradation of benzene (B), toluene (T) and phenol (P) was studied. The adaptation of microorganism to BTP decreased the biodegradation time from 24 to 6 It for benzene (90 mg/1) and toluene (90 mg/1), and from 90 to 18 It for phenol (50 mg/1). Andrews kinetics model for single substrate was solved to obtain maximum specific growth rates, half saturation and substrate inhibition constant. Cell growth using toluene (mu(max.T) = 0...
Exponential feeding strategy development for benzaldehyde lyase production by recombinant "Escherichia coli"
Taşpınar, Hatice; Çalık, Pınar; Özdamar, Tunçer H.; Department of Biotechnology (2010)
In this study, the aim was to investigate the effects of exponential feeding strategy on benzaldehyde lyase (BAL) production by recombinant Escherichia coli BL21. For this purpose, the effects of medium components were investigated to optimize the initial medium composition of the fed-batch fermentations. For the batch bioreactor operations, the highest cell concentration and BAL activity were achieved in a media containing 30 g L-1 pretreated molasses, and 5 g L-1 (NH4)2HPO4 as 5.07 g L-1, and 1611 U ml-1 ...
