Na-5[B2P3O13] was first prepared by high temperature synthesis (T-max = 780 degrees C) and was characterized by X-ray single crystal investigations recently. We have now succeeded in the hydrothermal synthesis of the compound and obtained single-phase products at 150 degrees C after 1-2 days. A microwave-assisted synthesis takes only 2 min to transform a solid mixture of berate and phosphate hydrates into the crystalline title compound. Pure Na-5[B2P3O13] melts at 747 degrees C and solidifies during cooling by formation of a homogeneous glass. (C) 1998 academic Press.

Cobalt borate phosphate, Co-3[BPO7], synthesis and characterization
Yılmaz, Ayşen; Bu, XH; Kizilyalli, M; Kniep, R; Stucky, GD (Elsevier BV, 2001-02-01)
Single crystals of Co-3[BPO7],I were obtained by boron flux method and characterized by single-crystal diffraction data. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Cm with 9.774(2), b = 12.688(2), c = 4.9057(8) Angstrom, beta = 119.749(2)degrees; V= 528.20(15) Angstrom (3); Z = 4. The structure consists of Co in trigonal bipyramids, square pyramids, and distorted octahedra. Polyhedral Co centers, triangular B centers, and tetrahedral P centers are joined together to form a three-dimensional net...
Photoelectronic, optical and electrical properties of TlInS2 single crystals
Qasrawi, AF; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Wiley, 2003-09-01)
To specify the donor energy levels in TlInS2 single crystals, the dark electrical resistivity, photoconductivity and Hall measurements were carried out in the temperature range of 100-400 K, 110-350 K and 170-400 K, respectively. The Hall measurements revealed that the crystals exhibit an anomalous behavior of Hall voltage by changing sign (from p-type to n-type conductivity) at 315 K. By means of the temperature dependence of dark electrical resistivity, Hall coefficient and photocurrent measurements the d...
SOLID-STATE SYNTHESIS, STRUCTURE, AND VIBRATIONAL-SPECTRA OF NAGDP2O7
KIZILYALLI, M; DARRAS, M (Elsevier BV, 1993-12-01)
NaGdP2O7 was synthesized by the solid-state reaction of Gd2O3 with Na2CO3 and 4(NH4)2HPO4 at 650°C. The X-ray powder diffraction data of NaGdP2O7 was indexed in the orthorhombic system with the approximate unit cell dimensions of a = 12.44 , b = 15.00, and c = 15.87 Å and the space group is Pmm2. Analysis of the vibrations of the P2O4-7 ion according to C2v symmetry and approximate band assignments for IR spectra are also reported in this work. The P-O-P band was found to be nonlinear, and some coincidences...
Solid-state synthesis and X-ray diffraction studies of Na2S
Kizilyalli, M.; Bilgin, M.; Kizilyalli, H.M. (Elsevier BV, 1990-4)
Na2S was synthesized by a new solid-gas reaction of Na2CO3 with a sulfidizing gas mixture and a solid-solid reaction of carbon with Na2SO4. The reaction products were analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction and IR methods. Two new crystal modifications of Na2S were identified in addition to the previously reported antifluorite structure. They were designated as cubic Form II and orthorhombic Form III. The approximate unit cell dimensions were found to be a = 11.29 Å for the cubic form and a = 15.94, b = 16.00,...
Radiative donor-acceptor pair recombination in TlInS2 single crystals
Aydinli, A; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Yilmaz, I; Serpenguzel, A (IOP Publishing, 1999-07-01)
Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of TlInS2 layered single crystals were investigated in the 500-860 nm wavelength region and in the 11.5-100 K temperature range. We observed two PL bands centred at 515 nm (2.41 eV, A band) and 816 nm (1.52 eV, B band) at T = 11.5 K and an excitation intensity of 7.24 FV cm(-2). A detailed study of the A band was carried out as a function of temperature and excitation laser intensity. A red shift of the A band position was observed for both increasing temperature and decreasin...
