A New Sampling Method for Massive MIMO Systems

2017-01-01
Multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) systems are able to serve multiple users simultaneously and using the same frequency band. Therefore, they have a quite crucial position in the design of 5G and future communication systems. However, as the number of users to be served increases, they may fail to suppress the inter-user interference adequately. It has been shown in literature that increasing the number of receive antennas is a solution to cope with severe inter-user interference distortion. Therefore, MIMO systems consisting of a vast number of received antennas, namely massive MIMO systems, are among the candidate schemes to be used in future communication standards. In this study, a new technique based on the time of the samples taken at the receiver side is proposed. With the proposed method, better performance is obtained in terms of the error vector magnitudes of the received symbols.

Fast simulation and modeling of scattering from targets in MIMO imaging systems
Gül , Yunus Emre; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-5-11)
The forward model analysis in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system requires the computation of the signals received by receiver antennas when various targets are illuminated by a transmitter antenna. The full wave analysis of such systems provides accurate results with high computational cost. Fast analysis of the system can be achieved by simple models based on several approximations which limits the accuracy. In this thesis, a modeling technique that provides better accuracy compared to simple m...
A General framework on adaptive hybrid beamformingand channel acquisition for wideband mm-wave massive MIMO systems
Kurt, Anıl; Güvensen, Gökhan Muzzaffer.; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
In this thesis, an efficient hybrid beamforming architecture together with a novel spatio-temporal receiver processing is proposed for single-carrier (SC) mm-wave wideband massive MIMO channels in time-domain duplex (TDD) mode. The design of two-stage beamformer is realized by using a virtual sectorization via second-order channel statistics based user grouping. The novel feature of the proposed architecture is that the effect of both inter-group-interference (due to non-orthogonality of virtual angular sec...
Cascaded, reactively terminated, single stage distributed amplifier
Efe, Oğuzhan; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
In this thesis work, a 3-stage ultra broadband amplifier operating in 2-18 GHz frequency band with gain 23 dB is designed, simulated and fabricated. The amplifier is based on cascaded, reactively terminated single stage distributed amplifier (CRTSSDA) concept. The idea of including reactive terminations to achieve broadband gain is investigasted and simulated. The simulated design is fabricated and measurements of the fabricated amplifier are compared with simulation results. Also practical experience on wo...
Design and realization of broadband instantaneous frequency discriminator

n this thesis, RF sections of a multi tier instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) receiver which can operate in 2 – 18 GHz frequency band is designed, simulated and partially realized. The designed structure uses one coarse tier, three medium tiers and one fine tier for frequency discrimination. A novel reflective phase shifting technique is developed which enables the design of very wideband phase shifters using stepped cascaded transmission lines. Compared to the classical phase shifters using coupled ...
On event signal reconstruction in wireless sensor networks
Atakan, Baris; Akan, Oezguer B. (2007-05-18)
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), the effective detection and reconstruction of the event signal is mainly based on the regulation of sampling and communication parameters used by the sensor nodes. The aim of this paper is to understand the effect of these parameters on the reconstruction performance of event signal in WSN. Theoretical analysis and results show that with proper selection of sampling and communication parameters, the event signal can be satisfactorily reconstructed at the sink. Furthermore,...
