Mediating role of coping with stress styles in relation between mindfulness and basic psychological needs satisfaction
Yılmaz, Fatih; Öner Özkan, Bengi; Department of Psychology (2020-10)
Mindfulness is generally defined as awareness of paying attention deliberately to the ‘now’ moment experience by being nonjudgmental and nonreactive. Mindfulness can be observed as trait or state characteristics. Since there are several definitions of mindfulness, there are a lot of scales of mindfulness. In this study trait based mindfulness through Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) was benefited. There are two purposes of the study. First purpose is to provide reliability and especially constru...
Ab initio modelling and investigation of the effects of magnesium oxide surface modifications on single atom catalysis systems
Kallem, Aydoğa; Toffoli, Hande; Canbay, Cahit; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2023-1-23)
An emerging technology, namely Single Atom Catalysts (SACs) have the potential to bridge the positive characteristics of both heterogenous and homogenous catalysts. In order to create more efficient SACs, it is necessary to understand the metal support interaction (MSI) at the molecular level, which seriously affects the performance of SACs. In this study, the effects of surface modifications on the catalytic performance of SACs were examined via Density Functional Theory (DFT) to gain a deeper understandin...
Using Frequencies of Transitions to Improve Reinforcement Learning with Hidden States
Aydın, Hüseyin; Polat, Faruk; Çilden, Erkin; Department of Computer Engineering (2022-8)
Reinforcement learning problems with hidden states suffer from the ambiguity of the environment, since the ambiguity in the agent's perception may prevent the agent from estimating its current state correctly. Therefore, constructing a solution without using an external memory may be extremely difficult or even impossible sometimes. In an ambiguous environment, frequencies of the transitions can provide more reliable information and hence it may lead us to construct more efficient and effective memory inst...
A Digitally Controlled FM MEMS Gyroscope System
Yeşil, Ferhat; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2023-1-24)
This dissertation presents a digitally controlled high performance FM MEMS gyroscope system with improved short and long term stability for tactical and near navigation grade applications. The digital gyroscope system has a number of advantages such as simplified electronic hardware, small size, low power, and increased flexibility with software programming for easy configuration for different operation conditions, real-time advanced calibration, and extensive testability. The system is implemented with a l...
Closed-form sample probing for training generative models in zero-shot learning
Çetin, Samet; Cinbiş, Ramazan Gökberk; Department of Computer Engineering (2022-2-10)
Generative modeling based approaches have led to significant advances in generalized zero-shot learning over the past few-years. These approaches typically aim to learn a conditional generator that synthesizes training samples of classes conditioned on class embeddings, such as attribute based class definitions. The final zero-shot learning model can then be obtained by training a supervised classification model over the real and/or synthesized training samples of seen and unseen classes, combined. Therefor...
