Chaotic behavior of triatomic clusters
Yurtsever, E; Elmaci, N (1997-01-01)
The dynamics of triatomic clusters is investigated employing two-body Lennard-Jones and three-body Axilrod-Teller potential functions. Lyapunov exponents are calculated for the total energy range of -2.70 epsilon <E< -0.72 epsilon. The effects of the initial geometry of the cluster, its angular momentum, and the magnitude of three-body interactions are analyzed. It has been found that the dominating factor for the extent of chaotic behavior is the energy assigned to vibrational modes. The introduction of th...
CHAOTIC DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF VISCOELASTIC SHALLOW SPHERICAL-SHELLS
Karaesmen, Engin; ILERI, L; AKKAS, N (Elsevier BV, 1992-08-03)
This paper investigates the dynamic behaviour of a shallow, viscoelastic, spherical shell under a harmonic excitation. The time evolutions of the response of the corresponding nonlinear dynamical system are described by the phase portraits and the bifurcation of the parameter dependent system is studied numerically so as to identify qualitative changes in the phase portrait. The viscoelastic shell, having more than one equilibrium configuration for some problem parameters, shows periodic and/or random-like ...
Chaotic dynamics of the mass deformed ABJM model
Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin; Başkan, Kagan; Taşcı, Cankat (2023-03-01)
We explore the chaotic dynamics of the mass-deformed Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena model. To do so, we first perform a dimensional reduction of this model from 2 + 1 to 0 + 1 dimensions, considering that the fields are spatially uniform. Working in the ’t Hooft limit and tracing over ansatz configurations involving fuzzy 2-spheres, which are described in terms of the Gomis–Rodriguez-Gomez–Van Raamsdonk–Verlinde matrices with collective time dependence, we obtain a family of reduced effective Lagran...
Nonlinear modeling and vibration analysis of horizontal drum type washing machines
Baykal, Cem; Yazıcıoğlu, Yiğit; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2019)
Nonlinear two and three-dimensional dynamical models for horizontal drum type washing machines are developed considering rotating unbalance type excitation. Nonlinear differential equations of motion are converted into a set of nonlinear algebraic equations by using the Harmonic Balance Method (HBM). The resulting nonlinear algebraic equations are solved by using Newton’s method with arc-length continuation. Several case studies are performed in order to observe the effects of orientation angles of springs ...
Nonlinear seismic response evaluation of tunnel form building structures
Balkaya, C; Kalkan, E (Elsevier BV, 2003-02-01)
The occurrences of (M-w = 7.4) Kocaeli and (M-w = 7.1) Duzce earthquakes in Turkey in 1999 once again demonstrate the nondamaged and high performance conditions of RC shear wall dominant structures commonly built by using the tunnel form technique. This study presents their seismic performance evaluation based on the nonlinear pushover analyses of two case studies. The contribution of transverse walls and slab-wall interaction during the 3D action, the effects of 3D and 2D modeling on the capacity-demand re...
