A FUZZY CONCEPTUAL MODEL FOR MULTIMEDIA DATA WITH A TEXT-BASED AUTOMATIC ANNOTATION SCHEME
Kucuk, Dilek; Burcuozgur, N.; Yazıcı, Adnan; KOYUNCU, Murat (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2009-08-01)
The size of multimedia data is increasing fast due to the abundance of multimedia applications. Modeling the semantics of the data effectively is crucial for proper management of it. In this paper, we present a fuzzy conceptual data model for multimedia data which is also generic in the sense that it can be adapted to all multimedia domains. The model takes an object-oriented approach and it handles fuzziness at different representation levels where fuzziness is inherent in multimedia applications and shoul...
An Ontology Based Question Answering System on Software Test Document Domain
Serhatlı, Meltem; Alpaslan, Ferda Nur (2009-04-26)
Processing the data by computers and performing reasoning tasks is an important aim in Computer Science. Semantic Web is one step towards it. The use of ontologies to enhance the information by semantically is the current trend. Huge amount of domain specific, unstructured on-line data needs to be expressed in machine understandable and semantically searchable format. Currently users are often forced to search manually in the results returned by the keyword-based search services. They also want to use their...
An agent-based optimization framework for mobile-cloud computing
Angın, Pelin (2013-01-01)
The proliferation of cloud computing resources in the recent years offers a way for mobile devices with limited resources to achieve computationally intensive tasks in real-time. The mobile-cloud computing paradigm, which involves collaboration between mobile and cloud resources, is expected to become increasingly popular in mobile application development. Dynamic partitioning of applications between mobile and cloud platforms based on resource availability is crucial in achieving the best performance for a...
A novel optical flow-based representation for temporal video segmentation
Akpınar, Samet; Alpaslan, Ferda Nur (2017-01-01)
Temporal video segmentation is a field of multimedia research enabling us to temporally split video data into semantically coherent scenes. In order to develop methods challenging temporal video segmentation, detecting scene boundaries is one of the more widely used approaches. As a result, representation of temporal information becomes important. We propose a new temporal video segment representation to formalize video scenes as a sequence of temporal motion change information. The idea here is that some s...
A case study in weather pattern searching using a spatial data warehouse model
Köylü, Çağlar; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; Department of Geodetic and Geographical Information Technologies (2008)
Data warehousing and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) technology has been used to access, visualize and analyze multidimensional, aggregated, and summarized data. Large part of data contains spatial components. Thus, these spatial components convey valuable information and must be included in exploration and analysis phases of a spatial decision support system (SDSS). On the other hand, Geographic Information Systems (GISs) provide a wide range of tools to analyze spatial phenomena and therefore must be ...
