Nanoceria-Supported Ruthenium(0) Nanoparticles: Highly Active and Stable Catalysts for Hydrogen Evolution from Water
Demir Arabacı, Elif; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2018-02-21)
Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on nanoceria (Ru-0/CeO2) were prepared by reduction of Ru3+ ions on the surface of ceria using aqueous solution of NaBH4. The Ru-0/CeO2 samples were characterized by advanced analytical tools and employed as electrocatalysts on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in hydrogen evolution from water. The GCE, modified by Ru-0/CeO2 (1.86 wt % Ru), provides an incredible electrocatalytic activity with a high exchange current density of 0.67 mA.cm(-2), low overpotential of 47 mV ...
AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF POLYVINYL-CHLORIDE) EMULSION POLYMERIZATION - EFFECT OF INITIATOR AND EMULSIFIER CONCENTRATIONS ON POLYMERIZATION KINETICS AND PRODUCT PARTICLE-SIZE
Karakaş, Gürkan (Wiley, 1989-01-01)
Effects of concentration changes in initiator species Na2SO3, (NH4)2S2O8 and CuSO4, and emulsifier, ammonium stearate, on poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) emulsion polymerization kinetics and on product particle size were experimentally investigated. It was observed that to obtain industrially significant rates and overall conversions, not only an optimum concentration ratio of Na2SO3/(NH4)2S2O8/CuSO 4 must be used, but also the concentrations of these species must be above certain limits. Increasing the concentr...
A new framework for simulation of heat treatments
Şimşir, Caner; Gür, Cemil Hakan (Inderscience Publishers, 2010-12-01)
In this study, a mathematical framework based on finite element method (FEM) capable of predicting temperature history, evolution of phases and internal stresses during thermal treatment of metals and alloys was developed. The model was integrated into the commercial FEA software MSC.Marc® by user subroutines. The accuracy of the model was verified by simulating the quenching of eccentrically drilled steel cylinders. Simulation results were justified via SEM observations and XRD residual stress measurements.
Corrosion behaviours of Ti6Al4V-Mg/Mg-Alloy composites
ESEN, ZİYA; Ocala, Ezgi Butev; Akkaya, Asli; Gurcay, Bensu; Ozcan, Ceren; Ozgumus, Burcu Asli; Duygulu, Ozgur; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi (Elsevier BV, 2020-04-15)
The effect of coupling of unalloyed Mg and Mg-alloys (AZ91 and WE43) with Ti6Al4V alloy on corrosion and degradation behaviours of produced composites has been investigated in simulated body fluid (SBF) by hydrogen evolution, and surface and electrochemical characterization techniques. Combining of unalloyed Mg with Ti6Al4V intensified galvanic corrosion and catastrophic failure occurred by initiation of microcracks formed by sudden hydrogen gas evolution. In contrast to other composites, Ti6Al4V-AZ91 compo...
Solution behavior of Na sulfonated polystyrene: Dipole moment determinations
Güler, Hatice; Aras, Leyla; Vanderschueren, J. (Wiley, 1990)
Solution behavior of Na sulfonated polystyrene (NaSPS) ionomers with different percentages of sulfonate was studied by viscosity and dipole moment measurements. Two solvents of different character were chosen, i.e. dioxane (ϵ = 2.22) and dimethyl formamide (DMF, ϵ = 36) and their mixtures. The reduced viscosity as a function of concentration in polar solvents reflects the ‘polyelectrolyte’ behaviour of the ionomers. Mean‐squared dipole moment (<μ2>/x) values were calculated over a temperature range of 20–1...
