Multiscale analysis of solids flux signals measured in a high density circulating fluidized bed using wavelet transformation

2005-05-13
In order characterize the annulus thickness in a high density circulating fluidized bed, local instantaneous solids fluxes are measured using a three-fibre optical probe in a 0.20 m diameter, 5.9 m tall CFB riser operating at superficial gas velocity of 6 m/s and solids circulation flux of 330 kg/m(2)s, with FCC particles of mean diameter 70 mu m and density 1700 kg/m(3) as the bed material. Measurements obtained at three axial levels (z = 0.76, 1.27, 3.10 m) and six radial locations (r/R = 0.94, 0.88, 0.75, 0.50, 0.25, 0.00) are analyzed using wavelet transformation, resulting in performing a multiscale analysis of the decomposed signal. The results indicate a clear distinction between the dense suspension upflow (DSU) and fast fluidization regimes observed in the bottom and top section of the riser, and the radial uniformity of the wavelet energy in the DSU regime.

Measurement of the energy density as a function of pseudorapidity in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-05-01)
A measurement of the energy density in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sTeV is presented. The data have been recorded with the CMS experiment at the LHC during low luminosity operations in 2015. The energy density is studied as a function of pseudorapidity in the ranges -6.6<<-5.2 and 3.15<||<5.20. The results are compared with the predictions of several models. All the models considered suggest a different shape of the pseudorapidity dependence compared to that observed in the data. ...
Measurement of the average very forward energy as a function of the track multiplicity at central pseudorapidities in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2019-11-01)
The average total energy as well as its hadronic and electromagnetic components are measured with the CMS detector at pseudorapidities -6.6 < eta < -5.2 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy root s = 13 TeV. The results are presented as a function of the charged particle multiplicity in the region vertical bar eta vertical bar < 2. This measurement is sensitive to correlations induced by the underlying event structure over a very wide pseudorapidity region. The predictions of Monte Carlo ev...
Surface-to-bed heat transfer for high-density particles in conical spouted and spout-fluid beds
Yaman, Onur; Külah, Görkem; KÖKSAL, MURAT (Elsevier BV, 2019-02-01)
Bed-to-surface heat transfer experiments from a vertically submerged cylindrical surface were conducted in laboratory-scale (D-c = 25 cm) conical spouted and spout-fluid beds at two different conical angles (31 degrees and 66 degrees) in the high particle density range (2500 kg/m(3) <= sigma(p) <= 6000 kg/m(3)). The effects of the bed design parameters (conical angle and inlet diameter of spouting gas entrance) and operating conditions (static bed height, particle size, density, and spouting and fluidizatio...
Radial distribution of local concentration weighted particle velocities in high density circulating fluidized beds
Külah, Görkem; Bi, X; Lim, J; Grace, J R (null; 2007-05-01)
An extensive experimental investigation of radial profiles of concentration -weighted particle velocities was carried out by simultaneously measuring local transient particle velocity, solids concentration and solids flux using a three-fibre optical probe at five axial levels and seven radial locations in a 0.2 m diameter riser operating over a wide range of solids circulation fluxes (198 to 350 kg/m 2s) and superficial gas velocities (6 to 8 m/s). Particle velocities averaged over time and concentration-we...
Spectroscopic ellipsometry study of above-band gap optical constants of layered structured TlGaSe2, TlGaS2 and TlInS2 single crystals
IŞIK, MEHMET; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Turan, Raşit (2012-11-01)
Spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements on TlGaSe2, TlGaS2 and TlInS2 layered crystals were carried out on the layer-plane (0 0 1) surfaces, which are perpendicular to the optic axis c*, in the 1.2- 6.2 eV spectral range at room temperature. The real and imaginary parts of the pseudodielectric function as well as pseudorefractive index and pseudoextinction coefficient were found as a result of analysis of ellipsometric data. The structures of critical points in the above-band gap energy range have been char...
