This article presents the quality assurance system established in the NDT Laboratories of the Middle East Technical University - Welding Technology and NDT Centre in Ankara, Turkey. The quality assurance system is based on the requirements of EN 45001 : 'General criteria for the operation of testing laboratories'. In 1995 the quality system activities began, and these NDT laboratories were audited and accredited as a testing laboratory by DAR-Germany in November 1996.

Geotechnical engineering education in METU and computer aided learning resources
Çokça, Erdal (2008-06-04)
In this paper, the state-of-practice in undergraduate geotechnical engineering (Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering) education in the Department of Civil Engineering of the Middle East Technical University (METU CE) is given. The use of computers in undergraduate courses is becoming a more widespread form of teaching in geotechnical engineering education. This paper also presents a list of web resources (e.g. PC Programs, web-based resources, cd-rom resources) currently available in geotechnical engin...

Generative design research for sustainability: exemplary cases for the adaptation of the EC guide tool and the ERM method
Kulaksız, Mert; Güngör Boncukçu, Itır; Oğur, Dilruba; Paksoy, İsmail Yavuz; Turhan, Senem; Doğan, Çağla (null; 2017-11-03)
This paper presents the main process of a graduate course entitled ‘Generative Design Research for Sustainability’ offered in the Department of Industrial Design at Middle East Technical University in the spring semester of 2015/2016 through exemplary design research cases conducted by the graduate students at the doctoral level. These cases focus on the adaptation of the generative tool and the method, namely Experience Chart (EC) Guide tool (Kulaksız, 2016) and Experience Reflection Modelling (ERM) method...
Usability evaluation of mobile and desktop websites: a study of comparing usability evaluation methodologies
Özen Çınar, Nesibe; Çağıltay, Kürşat; Department of Information Systems (2015)
The aim of this research was to investigate usability issues of websites of three entrepreneurial and innovative universities, Middle East Technical University, Koç University, Sabancı University, on mobile and desktop in Turkey. In order to figure out the limitations and differences of conducting same usability evaluation methods for mobile and desktop websites and to explore effective and effcient usability evaluation methods for mobile websites, usability evaluation methods were compared by using qualita...
CdZnTe BULK-CRYSTAL GROWTH AND SURFACE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY AT METU-CGL
Ergunt, Yasin; Kabukçuoğlu, Merve Pinar; Balbasi, Ozden Basar; Yaşar, Bengisu; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Turan, Raşit; Parlak, Mehmet (2020-01-01)
The study of Cd1-xZnxTe (Cadmium Zinc Telluride) bulk-crystal growth and surface processing technology at the Middle East Technical University (METU) began in 2012. The initial R&D efforts were started with the growing of CdZnTe ingots up to a size of 15 mm in diameter in a three-zone vertical Bridgman furnace located in a limited laboratory area of 15 m2. Following promising development in terms of single crystal yield and the crystal growth process, a new vertical gradient freeze (VGF) multi-zone furnace ...
