This paper deals with the problem of modeling web information resources using expert knowledge and personalized user information, and querying them in terms of topics and topic relationships. We propose a model for web information resources, and a query language SQL-TC (Topic-Centric SQL) to query the model. The model is composed of web-based information resources (XML or HTML documents on the web), expert advice repositories (domain-expert-specified metadata for information resources), and personalized information about users (captured as user profiles, that indicate users' preferences as to which expert advice they would like to follow, and which to ignore, etc).

This paper deals with the problem of modeling Web information resources using expert knowledge and personalized user information for improved Web searching capabilities. We propose a "Web information space" model, which is composed of Web-based information resources (HTML/XML [Hypertext Markup Language/Extensible Markup Language] documents on the Web), expert advice repositories (domain-expert-specified meta-data for information resources), and personalized information about users (captured as user profiles...
Analyzing the polarity of opinionated queries

In this paper, we present an in-depth analysis of Web search queries for controversial topics, focusing on query sentiment. To this end, we conduct extensive user assessments as well as an automatic sentiment analysis using the SentiWordNet thesaurus.
Fuzzy data representation and querying in XML database
Ustunkaya, Ekin; Yazıcı, Adnan; George, Roy (2007-02-01)
Real-world information including subjective opinions and judgments need imprecise data to be modeled for representation and querying in databases. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) has become a de-facto standard for data modeling and exchange in recent years. Efforts on modeling imprecision and representing such data in XML have not been fully developed. In this paper, an XML based fuzzy data representation and querying system is presented. Complex and imprecise data are represented using a fuzzy extensi...
Multi-dimensional evaluation of E-learning systems in the higher education context: An empirical investigation of a computer literacy course
Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi (2009-12-01)
Research addressing the conceptualization and measurement of learning management systems (LMS) within educational organizations as both a web-based learning system for e-learning and as a supportive tool for blended learning environments is receiving attention, and this research study proposes a conceptual e-learning assessment model, HELAM (Hexagonal e-Learning Assessment Model), suggesting a multi-dimensional approach for LMS evaluation via six dimensions: (1) system quality, (2) service quality, (3) cont...
