Power combining in coaxial waveguide by printed planar probes is investigated. Combiners are designed and implemented at 8-12 GHz and 15-18 GHz. Average introduced insertion loss is measured as 0.5 dB per branch. Power amplifier modules are designed and implemented for both bands. similar to 20 W output power at 8-12 GHz and similar to 12 W output at 15-18 GHz are achieved by efficient power combining.

Frequency tunable microstrip patch antenna using RF MEMS technology
Erdıl, Emre; Topallı, Kagan; Unlu, Mehmet; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Akın, Tayfun (2007-04-01)
A novel reconfigurable microstrip patch antenna is presented that is monolithically integrated with RF microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) capacitors for tuning the resonant frequency. Reconfigurability of the operating frequency of the microstrip patch antenna is achieved by loading it with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) stub on which variable MEMS capacitors are placed periodically. MEMS capacitors are implemented with surface micromachining technology, where a 1-mu m thick aluminum structural layer is plac...
Numerical analysis, design and two port equivalent circuit models for split ring resonator arrays
Yaşar Örten, Pınar; Sayan, Gönül; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
Split ring resonator (SRR) is a metamaterial structure which displays negative permeability values over a relatively small bandwidth around its magnetic resonance frequency. Unit SRR cells and arrays have been used in various novel applications including the design of miniaturized microwave devices and antennas. When the SRR arrays are combined with the arrays of conducting wires, left handed materials can be constructed with the unusual property of having negative valued effective refractive indices. In th...
Calibration Quality Analysis of Phased Array Antennas
Kilic, Ozgehan; Yalim, Alper; Cetintepe, Cagri; Demir, Şimşek (2012-07-14)
A phased array antenna (PAA) system can be calibrated by using several methods. In general, the aim of this calibration is to guarantee that the systematic errors are diminished. Still there can be residual errors due to the random errors in the system. These residual errors may decrease the correction accuracy of the calibration. This correction accuracy can be quantified as a quality factor. In this paper, quality of the Rotating Electric-Field Vector (REV) calibration method is examined with a statistica...
Electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of galvanostatically synthesized conducting polypyrrole films in the 300-2000 MHz frequency range
Kaynak, A (1996-07-01)
Both far-field (plane wave) and near field shielding effectiveness (SE) measurements have been conducted on electrochemically synthesized conducting polypyrrole(PPy) films with wide ranging conductivity levels (10(-2) S/cm to 45 S/cm). Go-axial transmission line, TEM test cell and TE(10) waveguide techniques were employed to measure shielding effectiveness as a function of polymer conductivity, frequency and temperature. Highly doped polypyrrole films exhibited shielding levels, above 40 dB from 300 MHz to ...
Metamaterial absorber-based multisensor applications using a meander-line resonator
AKGÖL, OĞUZHAN; ALTINTAŞ, OLCAY; Dalkilinc, Elif Eda; ÜNAL, EMİN; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; Sabah, Cumali (2017-08-01)
A metamaterial (MTM) absorber-based multifunctional sensor is numerically and experimentally realized using meander-line resonators. The proposed sensor device can be used to measure pressure, density, and humidity with perfect signal absorption characteristics at the frequency range of X band. The structure consists of a sensor layer sandwiched between two dielectric slabs. The sensor layer is used to detect unknown environmental parameters with respect to the electromagnetic responses of the material unde...
