In this study, a novel, content aware audiovisual quality assessment (AVQA) method using a spatio-temporal characteristics based video classification method has been proposed and evaluated on AVQA database created by University of Plymouth. The proposed AVQA method is evaluated using subjective audio mean opinion score (MOS) and subjective video MOS. Results indicate that both classification method and the proposed content dependent AVQA method are quite satisfactory

Video Content Analysis Method for Audiovisual Quality Assessment
Konuk, Baris; Zerman, Emin; NUR YILMAZ, GÖKÇE; Akar, Gözde (2016-06-08)
In this study a novel, spatio-temporal characteristics based video content analysis method is presented. The proposed method has been evaluated on different video quality assessment databases, which include videos with different characteristics and distortion types. Test results obtained on different databases demonstrate the robustness and accuracy of the proposed content analysis method. Moreover, this analysis method is employed in order to examine the performance improvement in audiovisual quality asses...
QUALITY EVALUATION OF STEREOSCOPIC VIDEOS USING DEPTH MAP SEGMENTATION
Sarikan, Selim S.; Olgun, Ramazan F.; Akar, Gözde (2011-09-09)
This paper presents a new quality evaluation model for stereoscopic videos using depth map segmentation. This study includes both objective and subjective evaluation. The goal of this study is to understand the effect of different depth levels on the overall 3D quality. Test sequences with different coding schemes are used. The results show that overall quality has a strong correlation with the quality of the background, where disparity is smaller relative to the foreground. The results also showed that con...

This study investigates research trends in articles about physics education in Journal of Turkish Science Education (TUSED) by using content analysis method. There were 125 studies published between 2004 and 2011, and 46 studies related to physics education have been determined. The research trends in these 46 articles have been examined in terms of demographic properties of authors (gender, institution, number of authors, etc.), general themes and physics topics, research methods, sampling procedures and s...
Reference to a past learning event in teacher turns in an L2 instructional setting
CAN DAŞKIN, NİLÜFER; Hatipoğlu, Çiler (2019-03-01)
This study investigates Reference to a Past Learning Event (RPLE) in an L2 instructional setting using Conversation Analysis (CA). It involves the analysis of video-recordings of an EFL class (55 classroom hours) in a preparatory school at a state university. Using CA, it uncovers how teachers make RPLE and contingently extend the main instructional activity by focusing on what was presented in past learning events in and through interaction. The micro-analysis generated recurring sequential patterns of RPL...
Performance comparisons of seismic assessment methods with PSD test results of a deficient RC frame
Ozcebe, G.; KURT, ELİF; Binici, Barış; Kurç, Özgür; Canbay, Erdem; Akpinar, U. (2009-12-01)
The accuracy of estimating the performance levels of a deficient RC frame using linear elastic and nonlinear dynamic analysis is evaluated in this study. This was achieved by comparing the response of a structure tested with pseudo-dynamic testing and estimated by the linear elastic assessment procedures along with nonlinear dynamic analysis. The test structure (three bay-two storey planar frame) is a 1/2 scale reinforced concrete frame having masonry infill walls in the central span. The test frame contain...
