Interaction of tomato lectin with ABC transporter in cancer cells: Glycosylation confers functional conformation of P-gp
Molnar, Joseph; Kars, Meltem Demirel; Gündüz, Ufuk; Engi, Helga; Schumacher, Udo; Van Damme, Els J.; Peumans, Willy J.; Makovitzky, Josef; Gyemant, Nora; Molnar, Peter (2009-01-01)
Phospho-glycoprotein (P-gP) is a polytopic plasma membrane protein whose overexpression causes multidrug resistance (MDR) responsible for the failure of cancer chemotherapy. P-gp 170 is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily and has two potentially interesting regions for drugs interfering with its efflux function, namely the oligosaccharides on the first extracellular loop with unknown function and the two intracellular ATP-binding regions providing the energy for drug efflux fu...
Interaction of an alpha-Particle with TATB
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Varis, Serhat (Wiley, 2014-07-01)
Interaction of an alpha particle with triaminotrinitrobenzene (TATB) which is an insensitive explosive has been investigated by density functional calculations. It has been found that alpha-particles interact with TATB disturbing its planar geometry. As a result, the C-NO2 bond dissociation energies are substantially decreased, whereas detonation velocity and pressure values increased as compared to TATB. The quantum chemical properties of the structures are presented.
Interaction of the cholesterol reducing agent simvastatin with zwitterionic DPPC and charged DPPG phospholipid membranes
Sariisik, Ediz; KOÇAK, MUSTAFA; Baloglu, Fatma Kucuk; Severcan, Feride (Elsevier BV, 2019-04-01)
Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug in the pharmaceutical group statins. Interaction of a drug with lipids may define its role in the system and be critical for its pharmacological activity. We examined the interactions of simvastatin with zwitterionic dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and anionic dipalmitoyl phosphatidylglycerol (DPPG) multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) as a function of temperature at different simvastatin concentrations using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and differentia...
