The gametes and embryos of Paracentrotus lividus were exposed to various dilutions of water-soluble fractions (wsf) of oil prepared at two different temperatures (18 degrees C and 24 degrees C) to observe developmental defects during fertilization and larval stages up to pluteus. Emulsions at 24 degrees C have yielded better fertilization rates and development of larvae against emulsions at 18 degrees C. In general, developmental defects were increased with increasing wsf of oil and its toxicity decreased with increasing temperature.

Effects of purified and non-purified paper plant effluents on fertilization and development of sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus Lam, eggs
Uysal, Zahit (1996-01-01)
The gametes and embryos of Paracentrotus lividus were exposed to purified and nonpurified effluents of a paper plant together with tap water. The toxicity of purified and non-purified effluents were resembled. Most severe pathologic cases were evident with the tap water. In general, developmental defects were increased with decreasing salinity at all test solutions.
Application Of Esterase Polymorphism to Specıyf Population Genetic Structure of Engraulis Encrasicolus ( Pisces Engraulidae) in the Black and Azov Seas
İvanova, Pp; Dobrovolov, Is; Bat, Levent; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan; Nikolsky, Vn; Yuneva, Tv; Shehepkina, Am; Ge, Shulman (2013-12-01)
Genetic structure of anchovy populations was studied using genetic-biochemical markers. Anchovy samples collected between 1980 and 2006 from different Black Sea regions (off the Bulgarian, Turkish, Ukraine, and Georgian coasts) as well as from the Sea of Azov were analyzed. Three methods of electrophoresis were applied: starch gel electrophoresis, vertical polyacrylamide electrophoresis, and isoelectric focusing on thin polyacrylamide ampholine gel plates. On the base of long-term monitoring of allelic freq...
The role of bcsE gene in the pathogenicity of Salmonella
Ozdemir, Caner; AKÇELİK, NEFİSE; Özdemir, Fatma Neslihan; Evcili, Irem; Kahraman, Tamer; GÜRSEL, İHSAN; AKÇELİK, MUSTAFA (2021-08-01)
The effects of the bcsE gene and BcsE protein on bacterial physiology and pathogenicity in SalmonellaTyphimurium and Salmonella Group C1 were investigated. It was observed that biofilm and pellicle formation did not occur in the bcsE gene mutants of wild-type strains. Besides, the 'rdar' (red, dry, rough) biofilm morphotype in wild-type strains changed significantly in the mutants. In terms of the bcsE gene, the swimming and swarming motility in mutant strains showed a dramatic increase compared to the wild...
Influence of oxygen transfer on benzaldehyde lyase production by recombinant Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) pLySs
Angardi, Vahideh; Çalık, Pınar; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
In this study, the effects of oxygen transfer conditions on the synthesis of the enzyme benzaldehyde lyase as intracellular in recombinant E. coli BL21 (DE3) pLysS was investigated sistematically and a comprehensive model was developed to determine benzaldehyde lyase activity. For this purpose, the research program was carried out in mainly two parts. In the first part of study, the effects of oxygen transfer together with the mass transfer coefficient (KLa), enhancement factor E (=KLa/KLao), volumetric oxy...
Potential impact of forest management and tree improvement on genetic diversity of Turkish red pine (Pinus brutia Ten.) plantations in Turkey
Icgen, Y; Kaya, Zeki; Cengel, B; Velioglu, E; Ozturk, H; Onde, S (Elsevier BV, 2006-04-15)
Genetic diversity was determined and compared by using 86 random amplified polymorphic DNA loci in 450 families originated from 18 Pinus brutia Ten. (Turkish red pine) seed sources. These seed sources were sampled at three different categories and included six seed stands from six different breeding zones and six seed orchards, and six plantations which were originated from the respective seed stands. Genetic diversity parameters among the plantations, seed orchards and seed stands were compared. There was ...
