First evidence of Late Carnian radiolarians from the Izmir-Ankara suture complex, central Sakarya, Turkey: implications for the opening age of the Izmir-Ankara branch of Neo-Tethys
Tekin, UK; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Turhan, N (2002-01-01)
Within the Late Cretaceous melange complex of the Izmir-Ankara suture zone in central Sakarya area, north-western Turkey, a megablock with radiolarian cherts associated with basaltic pillow lavas has been dated by radiolarians. The studied radiolarian assemblage and conodonts yielded an early Late Carnian age. This age is the oldest obtained from the chert blocks all along the suture belt and has important implications for the rifting/opening age of the Izmir-Ankara branch of the Tethys ocean in north-weste...
Middle-Late Triassic radiolarian cherts from the Arkotdag m lange in northern Turkey: implications for the life span of the northern Neotethyan branch
TEKİN, UĞUR KAĞAN; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Pandolfi, Luca; Marroni, Michele (2012-09-01)
Moderately to well-preserved, relatively diverse Middle and Late Triassic radiolarian assemblages have been obtained from the chert slide-blocks within the Late Cretaceous melange of the IntraPontide Suture Zone at the Pelitoren village to the NE of Kastamonu-Arac in northern Central Anatolia. In this locality, chert slide-blocks are tectonically overlain by metamorphic sole of the serpentinized peridotites belonging to the IntraPontide ophiolites. The oldest radiolarian assemblages, with the middle Late An...
Simulation of yacht movements in Göcek Bays
Genç (Numanoğlu), Aslı; Özhan, Erdal; Department of Civil Engineering (2004)
Fethiye-Göcek area is one of the nine coastal Specially Protected Area (SPA) in Turkey. Since mid-80̕s Göcek town has developed to be a yachting center, and the bays of Göcek have acquired a well-earned international fame as a paradise for boating vacations. However, the uncontrolled yachting in this bay area presents a growing pressure on the environment, and the coastal and marine ecosystem. In this thesis a computer model for simulating the movements of yachts in Göcek Bays is developed. The computer mod...
New evidence on the persistence of profit in Turkey with first and second generation panel unit root tests
Aslan, Alper; Kula, Ferit; Kaplan, Muhittin (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2010-4)
As argued that Developing country (DC) markets are lacking in competition because there are entry and exit barriers, high levels of protection, small and segmented markets in these countries. However, empirical literature on the intensity of competition in DCs, although limited in number, shows that the persistency coefficients are smaller for DCs than for advanced countries (ACs) suggesting that the intensity of competition is higher in DCs than that for the latter. This paper will provide new empirical ev...
Development of tools for modeling hybrid systems with memory
Gökgöz, Nurgul; Öktem, Hakan; Department of Scientific Computing (2008)
Regulatory processes and history dependent behavior appear in many dynamical systems in nature and technology. For modeling regulatory processes, hybrid systems offer several advances. From this point of view, to observe the capability of hybrid systems in a history dependent system is a strong motivation. In this thesis, we developed functional hybrid systems which exhibit memory dependent behavior such that the dynamics of the system is determined by both the location of the state vector and the memory. T...
