A new species of complex benthic foraminifera, Timidonella? primitiva n.sp., has been identified from the Aalenian?-Bajocian of the eastern Taurides, Turkey. The new species, belonging to the family Hauraniidae SEPTFONTAINE, occurs in the lower most beds of the Koroglutepesi Formation and its test is composed of a planispirally coiled early stage followed by an uncoiled rectilinear portion. The internal structure is characterized by four different zones consisting of a subepidermal reticulate layer, a zone of subepidermal plates, a more internal empty zone in the chambers and a primitive interseptal pillar system in the most internal part of the chambers perforated by multiple apertures. Contrary to previous opinions, which considered that Timidonella had evolved from the deserta group, this study suggests instead that derivation of the Timidonella was from the amiji group of hauraniids. Timidonella? primitiva n.sp. was probably an early step derived from the amiji group and led to the evolution of the more advanced species, Timidonella sarda.

Turriglomina ? anatolica, n. sp (Foraminiferida) from the cretaceous of North-Western Anatolia (Turkey): Remarks on the evolution of Mesozoic meandrospirids
Altıner, Demir; Zaninetti, L; Martini, R (2001-12-01)
A new species of foraminifer, Turriglomina ? anatolica, n.sp., is erected from the Lower Cretaceous of North-Western Anatolia, Turkey,. The species is characterized by, a well developed meandrospirid stage followed by, a rectilinear, helicoidal stage. The morphology of the new taxon is similar to that of the Triassic genus Turriglomina Zaninetti; however, the generic attribution is doubtful as the evolutionary path of meandrospirids is not documented from Triassic to Cretaceous.
Two New Species and a New Record of Oppioid Mites (Acari: Oribatida) from Turkey
BARAN, ŞULE; AYYILDIZ, Nusret; Kence, Aykut (2012-05-01)
Two new species Oppiella (Perspicuoppia) ozkani sp. n. and Epimerella ankaraensis sp. n. are recorded from Aegean region of Turkey (Izmir province) and pine forest in the province of Ankara in Turkey, respectively. The principal diagnostic features of the new species Oppiella (Perspicuoppia) ozkani sp. n. are shape of notogastral crista and humeral process and shape of costula. The new species Epimerella ankaraensis diferentiated from the other species of genus by entire rostrum. This is the first records o...
A new species of Acantholimon Boiss. sect. Glumaria Boiss. (Plumbaginaceae) from Elazig, Turkey
Dogan, M; Akaydin, G (Oxford University Press (OUP), 2005-11-01)
A new species, Acantholimon evrenii sp. nov. is described and illustrated for the first time in sect. Glumaria from Turkey. The species is confined to B7 Elazig in East Anatolia where it grows on rocky mountain steppes. The diagnostic morphological characters from closely related species are given, along with a discussion dealing with its taxonomic relationship. Its conservation status is indicated. A revised key is also provided for the Acantholimon species with heterophyllous leaves, two or more flowered ...
An example of an accretionary fore-arc basın from Northern Central Anatolia and its implicaiıons for the history of subduction of neo-tethys in Turkey
KOCYIGIT, A (1991-01-01)
Deformed sedimentary sequences of Late Cretaceous-middle Eocene age located between the Sakarya continent and the Anatolian Complex have been interpreted as the fill of a forearc basin. The history and structure of this basin are critical for understanding the evolution of the Neo-Tethyan subduction in the Middle East. I test and elaborate upon this interpretation on the basis of three basic outcrop areas of Upper Cretaceous-lower Tertiary sedimentary sequences confined to a northeast-southwest-trending b...
Aegilops triuncialis subsp. bozdagensis (Poaceae), a new subspecies from South-Western Turkey
Cabi, Evren; Ekici, Burçin; Doğan, Musa (2018-02-01)
A new subspecies Aegilops triuncialis L. subsp. bozdagensis Cabi & Doğan, is described and illustrated. This new subspecies is confined to Denizli, Acıpayam, Bozdağ in southwestern Anatolia. It differs from the other two subspecies of Ae. triuncialis subsp. triuncialis and Ae. triuncialis subsp. persica, by its unawned glumes of the lateral spikelets. Concerning the new subspecies, IUCN red list category, distribution map, notes on its biogeography and ecology are given. An identification key of the subspec...
