As a review study, the present study was carried out in order to introduce PCK construct to researchers and evaluate which aspects of PCK were studied in our country, and, finally, make recommendations in light of the analysis of the studies for further research. For this purpose, ERIC database, YOK (Higher Education Council) database were searched by using "Pedagogical Content Knowledge" as keyword. Moreover, journals published in Turkey and which are possible to be reached electronically were searched using the same keyword. 28 studies in the science education context were analyzed by means of standards obtained from the related literature. Results showed that large part of the studies were conducted with pre-service teachers as case studies. Moreover, PCK was studied in terms of its components rather than as a whole. In addition to that, participant teachers and pre-service teachers have some shortcomings regarding to PCK, pedagogical knowledge, and subject matter knowledge. Findings will hopefully provide some insight for researchers since shortages of the related literature will be determined by this study.

Aydın, Sevgi; Demirdogen, Betul; Akın Çelebi, Fatma; Kondakçı, Esen; Tarkin, Aysegul (2015-02-01)
This secondary analysis study focused on how interactions among preservice teachers' pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) components developed throughout a 14-week CoRe-based mentoringenriched practicum course, and the nature of those interactions. Data were collected from three preservice teachers, information-rich cases, by the use of content representation (CoRe) and semi-structured interviews. Content analysis and the constant comparative method were employed in the data analysis. Results revealed that t...

This study investigates research trends in articles about physics education in Journal of Turkish Science Education (TUSED) by using content analysis method. There were 125 studies published between 2004 and 2011, and 46 studies related to physics education have been determined. The research trends in these 46 articles have been examined in terms of demographic properties of authors (gender, institution, number of authors, etc.), general themes and physics topics, research methods, sampling procedures and s...
Investigating pre-service science teachers’ understandings and use of models
Yenilmez Türkoğlu, Ayşe; Öztekin, Ceren; Department of Elementary Education (2013)
To gain a better understanding of pre-service science teachers’ (PSTs’) views of models, a case study was conducted with fourteen PSTs in a large public university in Ankara.
