Unsaturated fulvene endoperoxides (2a-e) were trapped with dimethyl 1,2,4,5-tetrazine-3,6-dicarboxylate (4). The formed saturated fulvene endoperoxides containig 1,2-dihydropyridazine ring (6a-e) were characterised by spectroscopic methods. Treatment of (6a-e) with cobalt(II) tetraphenylporphyrin (CoTPP) provided alkylidene- and arylidenemalonaldehydes (9a-e).

Synthesis of new substituted dihydroheptalene derivatives: SiO2- and base-catalyzed rearrangement of dimethyl trans-3,8-dihydroheptalene-3,8-dicarboxylate
Saracoglu, N; Menzek, A; Kinal, A; Balcı, Metin (2001-01-01)
Dimethyl trans-3,8-dihydroheptalene-3,8-dicarboxylate (trans-3) isomerizes to dimethyl cis-3,8-dihydroheptalene-3,8-dicarboxylate (cis-3) upon treatment with SiO2. On the other hand, base-catalyzed reaction of trans-3 undergoes a direct 1,3-intramolecular proton shift to give 6 at room temperature in 5 min. Prolonged reaction time formed isomers 7 and 8 in a ratio of 4:1. AM1 calculations indicate that the isomer 8, which is formed as minor product, has a lower heat of formation (-99.34 kcal mol(1)) than th...
Synthesis and Rhizopus oryzae mediated enantioselective hydrolysis of α-acetoxy aryl alkyl ketones
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Hamamcı, Haluk; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Akhmedov, Idris M.; DOGANEL, Fatos (1998-05-22)
Mn(OAc)(3) oxidation of aromatic ketones afforded the alpha-acetoxy ketones in good yield. Selective hydrolysis of the acetoxy ketones by the fungus Rhizopus oryzae yields (R)-hydroxy ketones in high enantiomeric excess.
An unprecedented Co-II-tetraphenylporphyrin-catalyzed decomposition of bicyclic endoperoxides: A new approach to substituted furofuran systems
Sengul, ME; Simsek, N; Balcı, Metin (2000-04-01)
Co-II-tetraphenylporphyrin-catalyzed decomposition of bicyclic endoperoxides 4 and 5 with a strained double bond moiety has been studied. Compounds 4 and 5 have been synthesized by photooxygenation of 3 which itself was obtained by dichloroketene addition to cycloheptatriene, followed by removal of the chlorine atoms. An unusual decomposition mode of 4 promoted by Co-II-TPP resulted in the formation of 8 and 9 which are important building blocks in furofuran systems.
Reactions of acyl phosphonates with organoaluminum reagents: a new method for the synthesis of secondary and tertiary alpha-hydroxy phosphonates
Seven, Ozlem; Polat-Cakir, Sidika; Hossain, Md. Shakhawoat; Emrullahoglu, Mustafa; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Elsevier BV, 2011-05-13)
The reactions of organoaluminum reagents (trimethylaluminum, triethylaluminum, etc.) with aryl and alkyl acyl phosphonates, which lead to the formation of alpha-hydroxy phosphonates in moderate to good yields, are reported. This method provides easy access to secondary and tertiary alpha-hydroxy phosphonates depending on the reaction conditions. The reactions of triethylaluminum with a series of acyl phosphonates at 0 degrees C gave the secondary alpha-hydroxy phosphonates, while at -100 degrees C they affo...
Synthesis and photooxygenation of homochiral 2-methylpyrrole derivatives of chiral amino alcohols: simple, selective access to chiral bicyclic lactams
Aydogan, F; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (2004-01-26)
Homochiral 2-methylpyrrole derivatives are synthesized in high yields starting from chiral amino alcohols and 5-chloro-3-pentene-2-one. The photooxygenation of these compounds in the presence of a photosynthesizer furnishes the pyrrolooxazolone structures in high diastereoselectivities. In all of the examples, trans-isomers are formed as the major products.
