In this contribution, we present a numerical implementation of recently developed potential integral equations (PIEs) by using nondirective stable plane wave multilevel fast multipole algorithm (NSPWMLFMA). The proposed method is efficient and accurate to solve large scattering problems involving perfectly conducting bodies with geometrical details, which require dense discretizations with respect to the operating wavelength. Numerical results in the form of scattered field from various objects are provided to assess the accuracy and efficiency of PIEs solved using NSPWMLFMA.

Solution to transient Navier-Stokes equations by the coupling of differential quadrature time integration scheme with dual reciprocity boundary element method
Bozkaya, Canan; Tezer, Münevver (Wiley, 2009-01-20)
The two-dimensional time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations in terms of the vorticity and the stream function are solved numerically by using the coupling of the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) in space with the differential quadrature method (DQM) in time. In DRBEM application, the convective and the time derivative terms in the vorticity transport equation are considered as the nonhomogeneity in the equation and are approximated by radial basis functions. The solution to the Poisson equati...
Investigation of nanoantennas using surface integral equations and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm
Karaosmanoglu, Barıscan; Gur, Ugur Merıc; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2015-07-09)
A rigorous analysis of nanoantennas using surface integral equations and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) is presented. Plasmonic properties of materials at optical frequencies are considered by using the Lorentz-Drude models and employing surface formulations for penetrable objects. The electric and magnetic current combined-field integral equation is preferred for fast and accurate solutions, which are further accelerated by an MLFMA implementation that is modified for plasmonic structures....
Solutions of electromagnetics problems involving hundreds of millions of unknowns with parallel multilevel fast multipole algorithmt
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2009-06-05)
We present the solution of extremely large electromagnetics problems formulated with surface integral equations (SIEs) and discretized with hundreds of millions of unknowns. Scattering and radiation problems involving three-dimensional closed metallic objects are formulated rigorously by using the combined-field integral equation (CFIE). Surfaces are discretized with small triangles, on which the Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) functions are defined to expand the induced electric current and to test the boundary c...
Analysis of composite nanoparticles with surface integral equations and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm
Ergül, Özgür Salih (IOP Publishing, 2012-06-01)
Composite nanoparticles involving multiple parts with different material properties are analyzed rigorously with surface integral equations and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm. Accuracy and efficiency of the developed parallel implementation are demonstrated on spherical objects with dielectric, perfectly conducting, plasmonic, and double-negative regions. Significant effects of the formulation on numerical solutions are also considered to show the tradeoff between the efficiency and accuracy.
SOLUTIONS OF LARGE-SCALE ELECTROMAGNETICS PROBLEMS USING AN ITERATIVE INNER-OUTER SCHEME WITH ORDINARY AND APPROXIMATE MULTILEVEL FAST MULTIPOLE ALGORITHMS
Ergül, Özgür Salih; Gurel, L. (2010-01-01)
We present an iterative inner-outer scheme for the efficient solution of large-scale electromagnetics problems involving perfectly-conducting objects formulated with surface integral equations. Problems are solved by employing the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) on parallel computer systems. In order to construct a robust preconditioner, we develop an approximate MLFMA (AMLFMA) by systematically increasing the efficiency of the ordinary MLFMA. Using a flexible outer solver, iterative MLFMA solut...
